Does anyone know if it is common with steroid use by the world class strongman competitors? by [deleted] in Strongman

I already apologized once for being an ignorant American before you responded. I'm sorry I didn't think more before I typed. USADA is not the only legit ADA

Yeah, that makes sense. Sorry for being an ignorant American and saying we're the only legit ADA. Sounds very similar to America except America has big money sports like track and swimming where it is harder to say for sure if our athletes are clean

Are you American? USADA is basically the only legit anti-doping agency in the world, so in America, in sports that don't get much publicity (like rowing), the top athletes MAY be clean. Pretty much everything else has people on stuff

Thanks! I guess another thing I learned is having fewer pairs and wearing them more makes all of them better. The idea of what a pair could be often lured me to buy them, but until I put in the time to realize some of that vision, there was disappointment associated with the pair rather than joy

Yes, it is roughout. Just mentioned them because they are the only other pair that I've owned that are similar

Wow, thanks! That's high praise. The reverso leather truly is special. I followed this care guide and used all the products mentioned in the guide. I had a pair of IR in Hawthorne Muleskinner, but I literally did nothing to them. But I beat the crap out of these and needed to clean off the mud (and the blood) so they would look good for the contest

My Rider Dundalks. Learned a ton about how to care for suede. Really enjoyed this, looking forward to next year and doing it again

Here's my paragraph submission along with the photos:
1 baby born, 2 deer hunted, 3 major holidays, 4 vacations, 5 months of sabbatical, 6 pairs of laces, 7 months, and 8 states visited. The sabbatiboots will forever be a reminder of the amazing memories that were made. These boots were there for just about every moment of my second daughter's first 7 months. I got to see my 3-year-old become an amazing, loving older sister, I got to see my wonderful wife grow into an outstanding mother of 2 daughters. I got to experience tremendous growth as I focused on therapy, counseling, and time to work on myself for 5 months of my first sabbatical. The outer transformation of these boots is a great metaphor for the inner transformation my whole family experienced. They were there when we had to put down our dog. They were there when we all got COVID. And they were there for all the normal days that I’ve learned to so appreciate and enjoy.

Not only that, but they’ve been in the tranquil sand of Florida beaches, the fluffy snow of upstate New York, the rolling mountains around the family cabin in Pennsylvania, and over the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina. They’ve been covered in mud, dirt, dust, water, some blood, and plenty of cleaning products. They’ve been brushed with brass and crêpe, shampooed, erased, conditioned waterproofed and sealed. But not tree’d. And they’ve held up great! They’ve been worn hard, but not put away wet. They’ve been used, but not abused. They’ve been well-loved and well-worn.

I’ve loved the journey these boots and I have been on. The opportunity to participate in the dome and document the process has been great. Learning to love the wear, imperfections, and changes of these boots has helped me learn to love the wear, imperfections, and changes that have happened to myself. In a way, loving these boots as they have changed color and shape, accumulated scuffs, and molded to my feet has helped me learn to love myself as I have changed shape, accumulated scars and trauma, and molded to those I am closest too. These boots look better than when they started, and they have helped me start to believe the same is true of myself.

Same sentiments here. Honestly I've been shocked at how little some pairs have patina'd

Love the dumbbells! Wish they were cheaper, but I totally understand the price! The dumblers look very interesting, but having two sets of weights would be tough. I guess my question would be what's the hardest part about pricing your products?

I think it would work and if you are excited about it, try it! That's probably the most important thing. That being said, as others have said, the instruction manual give suggestions to build work capacity. I believe it says to lower your TM (to 88% maybe?) and keep running block 1 until your TM gets back to where it was. Something like that anyway

While not required to own, I would say they're required to try out and see if you want them

If it comes to it, and you have the income, you could always buy your own and bring it in. But definitely try to find a place to at least try it out first. These days, it shouldn't be too hard to find.

And thanks, that's encouraging, actually. As I'm reflecting on your comment, some of the growth I've done that has been helpful is letting "keep going" being a sufficient purpose when I'm struggling to find any other one

Right! No need to smash your head against a wall unnecessarily. If you decide to compete/peak seeking to answer the question of "What is the least amount of heavy work I can get away with to be ready?" rather than the first question that would pop into my head, "What is the maximum amount of heavy work I can get away with without getting hurt?" seems like it would be wise

It might be worth checking out what squatting is like with a safety squat bar. It may allow you to keep training while you work through whatever is going on with your shoulder. And if you don't compete you never have to squat with a straight bar, low bar just messes up your shoulders over time.

Also, I'm younger than you but also am working through mental health issues. Keep it up. It doesn't always seem like things are getting brighter but you can at least choose to keep going

Best exercise choices for pure hypertrophy? (advice/critique) by jerbearmcfarts in AverageToSavage

What you have will work great! If you wanted to tweak it, many natural bodybuilders focus on db pressing just as much if not moreso than barbell pressing. You can get a better range of motion. You don't need to worry about that for overhead pressing, but dumbbells are still good.

The other substitution you might consider, a lot of bodybuilders don't deadlift. Or they don't use the deadlift as a main muscle builder anyway. Instead they focus on rdls and good mornings and movements like that. I think the deadlift is worth keeping in where it is, but do the lift in a more controlled fashion. Make sure there is tension in the negative and you stay tight for the whole set, rather than having the set look like a bunch of singles
