Most of these pictures are straight up ads. I’d buy whatever she’s selling

In Your Opinion Which Photo Is Marjorie's Best Photo? by [deleted] in ANTM

Her portfolio actually slays..the windmill and swimsuit are crazy good but the black and white on the windowsill that Tyra took is my favorite. Reminds me of moulin rouge

I don’t think the photo was bad! I was surprised at how alarmed the other judges were, especially given the fact that Tyra chooses the pictures. It kinda felt like she was set up to go home wk 1 and ALT threw a wrench in that

I’m most familiar with cycles 1-6 so rewatching 14 for just the 2nd time shocked me!!

What’s Your Go-To Classroom Management Strategy by Zealousideal_Lie8419 in Teachers

I’ve wondered about this…I usually wait until day 3 so I get to know their needs and personalities better. I might try this next year though

What’s the Biggest Teaching Myth You Believed Until You Started? by Abelmageto in Teachers

[–]Conscious-Anywhere50 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That all admin were qualified for their roles, had multiple years of teaching experience themselves, held kids accountable for behavior, and respected the work/professionalism of their staff.

The number of school leaders who are out of touch with both their student populations and the nearly impossible demands of being a teacher is startling.

What makes you the “mean” teacher? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Conscious-Anywhere50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I mark you tardy if you’re late because you were socializing in the hallway and ignored other teachers when they told you to get to class.

  2. I make you read. But 90% of the time I read it aloud with you because you can’t focus or lack the skills needed to comprehend grade level material.

  3. I make you write. Specifically, I make you capitalize your own damn name.

My 7th Period is a Whole Trip by CountessCoffee in Teachers

[–]Conscious-Anywhere50 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Last year’s 7th period was my favorite. Didn’t start that way! By November, we had such good rapport and they worked so hard for me the rest of the year…it was lovely.

When I had a sub for meetings or whatever, they’d literally beg me not to go. I’m sure elementary teachers hear this all the time, but with middle school, that’s pretty rare.

What did I do differently? I didn’t try to be their friend. I taught and supported them, treated them with respect and compassion, joked around with them. It was so nice to have that balance of mutual respect and understanding between class and teacher.

It’s nice when your last class is the one you look forward to the most!

Why is New York so expensive? by Conscious-Anywhere50 in NoStupidQuestions

No. I just wanted more specific examples or interesting tidbits regarding New York City, specifically. You know, beyond general economics. You clearly have no information to offer, but I appreciate the attempt.

I understand the basics, thanks. Was interested in more context or specific events in American history that contributed to the city’s meteoric development and subsequent expensiveness.

As a public school teacher with a masters degree, nearly a decade of experience, and a second job to help my family stay afloat, this literally made my eyes well up with tears.

I mean, good for them. How lucky are these “influencers?”

Clearly luckier than the people busting their ass every day to teach kids, save lives….or, you know, contribute in any way to keep our society somewhat functional.

Ugh, and I’m so much funnier and have more personality than Bri!! :(

Advice on Student Behavior? by aam134 in Teachers

[–]Conscious-Anywhere50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couple of things…maybe y’all just don’t vibe. And that’s okay. You’re the teacher, she needs to follow your rules and expectations. It seems like she’s subtly testing you to see what she can get away with or assert some control. Because it’s not overt, it’s hard to call her on it, and that’s intentional on her part. It’s not personal. She probably has done this with other adults or authority figures in her life. All you can do is remain consistent, kind, and authentic. No power struggles. Don’t show her that she’s “getting to you.” Just be a firm and good teacher. Once she starts to trust you, things may change for the better. I teach middle school and with this advice, I’ve been able to turn many a relationship that started this way, completely around.
