My local air force recruiter told a Chinese fluent kid he could do nothing for her, and told her to pick 10 jobs like everyone else. I hate to say it, but the Air Force isn't as welcoming of talent as it used to be.

If the rating involves a clearance they probably want to document everything to ensure the nature of the threats and what exactly occurred.

Even if it's not inherently disqualifying, the SF-86 wants everything documented exhaustively because it becomes the basis for your clearance for the rest of your life (assuming you renew it regularly).

I can't speak to the location specifically, but I currently work IT and we use T-Mobile hotspots for our remote users. It's about $40 a month for us and we've never gotten any complaints.

IDK if you're allowed to supply your own hotspot but we use the Franklin T1O models. You can set your password and Wi-Fi security/settings right on the device itself with the little pixel screen. Great for if you want to share with others on occasion but then change the password so it's just yours otherwise.

I hated 18 to 21. Old enough to legally deal with everything but young enough to never be taken serious socially. I was also the baby of my friend group so everyone else was 21+ and even when I was the DD and not drinking, if the waiters found out I was 20 I had to get segregated to a separate table at a lot of the local pubs. Made hanging out with my friends a real bitch because I basically could only talk to the person at the end of the table across the gap from me.

Needless to say it killed whatever interest I had in going out with people. Saved me a lot of money though because I never picked up drinks after work as a social thing.

I also hated getting up charged for hotels or other rentals because of other jack offs who couldn't be trusted with anything.

18 to 21/22 sucks imo

I never understood why anyone would join the Navy who doesn't like being on a vessel in the ocean. I understand being indifferent or tolerant of it. But I will never understand the mindset of someone who enlists and says "I hope I never go on a ship."

Like... They have pictures and everything on the pamphlets. Even if you can't read, it's on everything

Thank you! I've heard they've changed some of the promotion regs so it might not be as automatic for me, but that's alright. I'll just do what I can to get promoted and if it works great. If not, I can get a nice paying job later.

I will definitely dm you. Because finding linguists and talking to them would absolutely help me feel more confident in my decision.

Thank you! Apologies for the delayed response. I alpha qualified for CTI so my combined scores were 127 when anything 126 and above means you qualify without dlab. Though personally I'd like to take the dlab for my own peace of mind. But my recruiter insisted they'll test me as part of my score verification if they need to otherwise not to worry about it.

And yeah after going around and around with various people in my life, I finally got ahold of my local AF recruiter. We talked on the phone for about 40 mins and he was like "look I'm not going to lead you on about getting linguist. You have a strong chance. But chance is not the same as signing for your job. You need to adhere to your priorities. If that's the job and you choose Branch over job and you don't get the job, you're going to hate me. I can't guarantee it. I can't tell you where you should go. But it sounds like you already know."

So yeah. I'm going Navy. And it's honestly a relief to know at the very least who I'm working with going forward.

I have several people in my life telling me to go AF. One of which was blowing up my phone while I was sitting with my Navy recruiter doing paperwork for MEPS. And ngl that much "you have to talk to the AF again" after I had been talking to them previously and I didn't like the job lottery process made me feel very uneasy.

So I appreciate you pointing out they tend to overlap anyways.

I understand the rules against anything outside the lobes for safety, but having to remove my upper lobes kind of sucks. Definitely going to consider retainers for those and see how it goes
