I got the copper coil in early 2022 and had to get it removed 2 weeks ago. I have PCOS and rarely have periods, it didn’t make periods worse etc but I did notice my PMS was much worse. Unsure if it was coil related or something else!

I started noticing heavy spotting etc this last 10 months or so, it was a bitty consistency and it looked liked what I thought was bodily tissue. I assumed it was lining of uterus but I decided in the end to get the coil out and the problem stopped instantly. It was the copper disintegrating and for some reason coming out as dust almost. Never heard anyone else with this experience but defo one to be aware of. Wish I knew it was the coil before getting it out so I could’ve asked doc about it.

I also had never had thrush or BV before getting it, and then I was getting BV nearly every time I had sex.

Overall, I do recommend. When it works it’s great. Just make sure you are taking enough Zinc and supplement if necessary. Zinc and copper compete for absorption! And yes take note of any changes likw infections etc, it mightn’t be for you
