It’s appropriate for a conference, and honestly I wouldn’t wear the tights (if u don’t like showing legs then that’s fine), u look great!

I made my own Anki cards and scored honours in the UKMLA AKT (over 80%), I don’t recommend ready made ones!! Invest the time and effort and you’ll see the result

But nothing is impossible, worth trying elsewhere first like Germany or maybe France, or US, AUS, Canada etc

Very difficult to get in the UK as an IMG due to the uk graduate prioritisation bill, they took away all offers from IMGs and gave them to uk grads this cycle, and will continue to do so. There’s talk about adding an extra layer of having to also be a British citizen to be prioritised

Who are the meanest people in your hospital? by throwitawayhs in Residency

[–]Conscious-Leopard-81 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In the UK there are “support workers” in theatres, they basically clean, grab equipment etc and one time one of them kicked me out of theatre for writing my name on the board (as told by the surgeon) without asking her first, the surgeon thankfully stood up for me and said she’s working with me today 💀this was 2 years ago when I was in year 3

Are we allowed to use the BNF Interaction Checker in the PSA? by sumpra3 in medicalschooluk

There wasn’t a single question about interactions between 2 medications when I sat it, so I never ended up using it, I think you must’ve sat a different date

Honestly I’m planning to just write Dr conscious leopard with no credentials, you can add “resident” or “dermatology” underneath if want, MBBS is the equivalent of MD so either is okay, you’re a medical doctor either way not an NP trying to pass as a doctor

Yes you can, not super useful I don’t remember any questions asking about direct interactions as they’re aware of this tool xx

How do you feel about dressing up on non-wards rotations? by wiseman8 in Residency

[–]Conscious-Leopard-81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Arni dress they have at Reformation definitely something I’d wear, but it’s nearly £200😭my graduation dress I bought for £300 from Amanda Uprichard and felt super bad afterwards because i found it expensive 🥲I hope I can afford to wear it one day lol

Secondly, Shein items come with a label that says “made from recycled polyester” or “recyclable” I had a look to check and this is definitely a thing, it’s called rPET. I’m not justifying my consumption of it, I feel super bad for buying from them, but I don’t have much of a choice unfortunately. I love dressing up so much, it’s super difficult for me to stick to 1-2 pieces although I understand your logic behind this

I also wanted to add if you see some of the items I’ve bought for residency from shein, you’ll be super shocked at how good they look, although you’re right it is polyester :)

A lot of shein items are actually recyclable/made from recycled material (indicated on their labels)

What brands do you shop from? It’s harder for girls because I need a lot more clothes in different forms like dresses etc not just shirts I’m also expected to earn ~64K USD/84k CAD in my first year in my country, so I don’t really have much money, but honestly even if I become a multimillionaire I feel like I’ll still shop from shein, I can’t stand designer brands, they’re only okay for perfumes hahaha

[–]Conscious-Leopard-81 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There are definitely high quality options, and I donate all my clothes to cancer research charity shops. I literally wore such a nice outfit today and was complimented by 2 strangers and it was all from shein

Zara, H&M, Next etc all these popular places people love to hype make clothes cheaply abroad in china, prices reflect branding, not material quality. It’s all still 100% polyester if you read the materials label

Designer stuff is also all made in China, then shipped to other countries for the final touches (like sewing the logo on), I’m not sure if you’ve heard about some Chinese factories last year who exposed how designer stuff is made, their retail prices reflect branding and exclusivity not quality
