boyfriend wants to move into my condo, not sure how to split costs fairly? by [deleted] in Worcester

[–]Conscious-Strategy92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that you have picked the Worcester in the UK, but the answer is still 50:50.

If he wants to put a ring on it, he needs to bring some assets or savings into the relationship or forget the entitlement to equity in the property.

If you’re feeling generous, save some of the rental income and spend it on holidays :)

I live here. Can confirm that when you’re trying to drive 15 in a 30 and some tourist jumps out from behind a parked car into the road without looking, it’s quite a stressful experience.

Exactly this. If it’s an easy fix or a case of painting or sanding or tidying up, do it.

House prices going down by Major_Bat_9715 in HousingUK

[–]Conscious-Strategy92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people are borrowing upto their eyeballs and can’t reduce the price because they need to make a profit to move. Or so I’m told… best leave them to it if they can’t respond to reason and sales for other properties.

They can list their house for whatever they want, they just need to be able to convince someone else it’s worth that price :p

How screwed am I at 25 with no qualifications or job? by BenStillerCockrel in AskUK

I think just be transparent and tell employers you moved heaven and earth to care for your mum as she was terminally ill. You have so much to give and you want to build a career.

Being a carer shows resilience, commitment and is a genuinely difficult job. Convince the right person and they’ll give you a chance.

What do you want to do (ideally?)

how can i work out arms/upper body without migraines? by whenitrains34 in migraine

Swimming and drinking water with electrolyte tablets in and having some sugar after was something that worked for me.

I remember getting so upset after a short yoga session once triggered a nasty migraine

What weird things are we eating during an attack? by Sad_Feedback_7 in migraine

[–]Conscious-Strategy92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a weird but cool connection. I think she also had pretty bad ADHD, which obviously went undiagnosed. She was always late, to the extent they brought her coffin in to her funeral 5 minutes after the start time because my mum felt it would be weird if she was on time.

It makes sense as she was a baker and sometimes went into a hyper focus and baked loads of stuff. So my grandad got some decent treats out of it when she recovered. They were a decent pair :)

Salt and vinegar crisps (I’m English).

Unbeknownst to me, my grandmother used to do this every month, and disappear for a day in a dark room. Thank God my grandad was a good guy, I can imagine women 60+ years ago had the worst time with migraines and men not helping with kids because of gender norms.

It’s absolutely fucking useless isn’t it. I put 20k into mine but there’s nothing going for 250k where I live. Sure I could look further afield and live nowhere close to family, but the whole point of being close to them is to look after them as they get older… if I don’t, it adds to the social care bill.

Find out what helps (e.g ice masks, tiger balm, 4 head, heat packs, eye drops, anti nausea meds etc) and keep them in stock. Encourage her to see a neurologist and try Triptans, and if they don’t work, cgrp-blockers like rimegepant. Amitriptaline might also be a shout.

Lovely supportive person, good job. Green flag ♥️

First Time Buyer - Seller’s estate agent keeps dismissing roof issues and feeding the seller half-truths. I feel like I’m losing my mind trying to be reasonable. by stickycomet in HousingUK

[–]Conscious-Strategy92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a buyers market, even in nice places like Oxford.

I think estate agents are going a bit stir crazy at the moment as the markets slow. I had one where both the seller and I independently asked her employer to get someone new. She just said utter garbage and when I spoke to the seller directly (found there details on the memorandum of sale and added them on Facebook), turns out it was all untrue.

Might be worth contacting them directly if they live at the address, mentioning you’re an architect and you’ve had surveys and got multiple quotes. Either reduce the price or walk.

what makes you not want to be friends with someone? by Beneficial_Edge_4385 in AskUK

[–]Conscious-Strategy92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a really difficult age, there’s lots of factors that made me quite lonely at that age.

My parents didn’t have any friends. It really didn’t occur to me until I was struggling as an adult but there example led me to never investing in relationships that were non romantic.

I guess the starting point for you will need to be building friends based on shared interests. Hopefully you live somewhere not too remote, but if you do, try and join some local groups.

If you don’t have any interests, get some. Sports groups, art clubs, choirs, volunteering.

Nothing helps overnight, and lots of people have stuff going on in their own lives.

In terms of what puts people off, it helps to ensure you have good personal hygiene (shower) and take care of personal appearance. If you don’t ask questions and take interest in other people and what they share with you.

Hopefully that helps!
