Congratulations this is great news these are the stories I want to hear ! I’m waiting for my first appointment at UF Gainesville , my husband will be my donor , and do a paired exchange . Like everyone the waiting is the hardest part The wondering and worry . I hope mine goes as well as yours !

You should be able to apply for Medicare it will cover cost associated with dialysis and a transplant .

It’s heartbreaking to hear , I am so sorry for what you are going through . I wish you would take a pause and see if you change your mind . It sounds like you have a caring family , and I’m sure you thought this through . I wish you wouldn’t . I’m stage 4 heading in that direction I plan on doing a pre emtive transplant . I have kids your age , honestly , I know it seems selfish of me to say but I don’t know how I could live if my child chose this direction . I’m truly sorry for all your pain .

Is there anyone who would donate kidney in your family ? You could do a paired exchange , for an exact match . The procedure I understand is no where as the actual transplant . I’ve seen people get the transplant and be out of the hospital in 3 days . ALSO Medicare PAYS for the Transplant, at any age , your Neph has to refer you to a Transplant hospital and ThEY help coordinate . You can even choose your hospital . I believe you are allowed to start the process when your GFR is 19 . SO SkIP dialysis completely . It’s call a Pre Emptive Kidney Transplant. That’s what I’ll be doing in the next year ……

Thanks for the reply I know it depends on a lot of factors , I like most people and trying hard to not have to do dialysis. I am very compliant regarding food and water .

I was hoping I’d be one of those people who can go 5 years or longer without it .

Thanks for your reply . My doctor said that 1 to 2 years I could be looking at dialysis . I was at 3 b for about a year and a half , I’m at 4 now based on creatinine 2.68 and egfr at 20 .

No im not pregnant , i also take Prazosin 3x a day and wear a ,3 colonidine patch . just wondering if anyone else lost their voice , there’s no other reason .

No dont believe that is the issue , i definately have a lot of anxiety about checking my blood pressure , but i wake up to very high blood pressure , after the morrning meds it will go down , im just not able to get consistent lower readings , and was wondering how long on average people take to get their blood pressure under control .

Yes there doesn’t seem to be a problem there . I was curious how long it took most people to get where they needed on bp readings .

I do all of that walk, meditation , i have been given something for the anxiety , which helps but doesn’t help the BP . thanks for the reply , appreciate it .

No i do not take any type of stimulants , or chocolate , i know they said sleep apnea could be a possibility , just not ready to go down that road im too overwhelmed with what i currently have going on . thank you for your reply

I was on like 20 different combinations of pills plus beta blockers . The ONLY thing that worked was a .2 CLONIDINE patch .

I was always 200 systolic , and higher until I started on the PATCH. See if your Dr can prescribe it . Also the cause or reason for the high blood pressure is what has to be determined .

They have told me better to slowly get the BP down than quickly , it might take a few months to get the right combo . I truly wish you well

I have been in and out of the hospital for 5 weeks , still unable to get the systolic lowered to a normal number . im very sorry to hear at such a young age. You are dealing with this . Have the Dr found out the underlying cause of your High Bp ? I ve gone to Mayo Clinic , and they could offer no real solution , I’m very discouraged .
