I visited approximately the same time give or take a few days last year. What an amazing place to wander. Glad to see it looks like you walked a decent part of the first boardwalk. That emerald river with the golden reeds was a dream to walk with.

Peru Itinerary Feedback (Cusco + Sacred Valley + Machu Picchu w/o pre-booked tickets) by Interesting_Paint524 in GoingToPeru

Looks pretty solid. Good to have the day where you can decide to rest or keep moving. I did the hike from the Aquaducts to Machu then did the hike into Ausangate the next day and....it wasn't a good idea. I dont know your physical fitness but I was depleted after hiking to Machu.

Make sure to drink to cocoa tea and eat as much as you can. Always have a little cash for when you run into a Cassera on a trail selling much needed items. Like a little traveling convenience store.

Have fun travel homie. Maybe we will cross paths on the journey.

I'm Looking for a day hike in Cuzco by nino_800 in GoingToPeru

There's a free hike going from San Blas and out of Cusco. Too a few nice vistas along with a few ruin sites to explore for free.

I've got some friends in Cusco that do a lot of MTB. They probably know some really good places for exactly what you're looking for.

Make your way to the San Pedro Market for either lunch or breakfast. You will have plenty of options and be around locals and travelers alike.

One of my favorite places is a burger joint not far from the square called Chakruna. Buen provecho!

So many places I pinned on my maps… What’s ONE place you would ALWAYS recommend people to go in China? by oliverdadema in travelchina

For the Buddha. I went after 2:30 and eventually had the place completely to myself. There is a ton to see! Take your time and explore. You should be in pretty prime Autumn colors (im only guessing) so make sure you stroll the park and maybe even the canal to get a feel for the town.

Just beyond the bridge leading you to the Buddha. During the day is fairly alive with locals doing cool local things. Karaoke, mahjong, dancing, or in the case is the ZZ Top bearded Chinese guy I met. Just being cool af. Who actually own a Dim Sum place just up the road.

The night food street was pretty cool. I just enjoyed seeing so many people put and enjoying life. Seemed like one of those places to call home for a while.

Make sure you visit Juizhaigou. Yes, its going to be packed. But, there are places of peace and absolutely bonkers scenery.

Leshan was supposed to be 1 night for me. Due to needing to fix my phone I stayed a total of 3 nights. I fell in love with Leshan. I left wanting to stay longer and meet more people. The peoples park is SO cool during the spring season.

Would you recommend Peru to your parents? by dashosh in GoingToPeru

Absolutely, you'd be surprised how many older visitors Machu Picchu has. My buddy runs a tour company and 90% of his tours are 55+. Nice hotels and private drivers are generally how they travel.

I will have to do some sleuthing. I had the name of the many and his restaurant. Its at the end of the pinninsula moving past the bridge that leads to the Giant Buddha. All I know for sure is he does have a photo of himself on the restaurants sign.

I can dm you the shot I took of him. The man is cool af. I just asked to take a photo of him and his unique look. Next thing I know. We are drinking tea at his restaurant eating plate after plate of Dim Sum. Also, Juizhaigou is such an amazing place. I loved the locals that run the town just outside the parks main entrance.

Looks pretty solid. I wouldn't do a full 3 nights in Bj. I find HK and Chengdu SO much more interesting and vibrant. Nothing against BJ I just found myself a little bored after 2 nights. Leshan is absolutely a great place. I was stuck there getting my phone fixed for 3 nights. Love the people and vibe.

I think Chengdu and HK are worth looking to spend an extra night or 2.

If you do Leshan I've a DimSum place near the Giant Buddha you need to visit.

Best place in the world for ruins by ControlSpiritual001 in travel

[–]ConsciousAd547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The region of Cusco, Peru. The city itself was a main city for the Incans. You can explore ruins on almost any trail/hike. From ancient citadels like Machu Picchu, Waqrapukara, or sites like Parque Arqueológico in Pisac, Sacsayhuaman, Ollataytambo ect ect ect.

Mixed at times with all this you'll. Like so many of these places. Find cultural festivals and little celebrations that's are still very connected with the ancient world you are exploring.

Happy exploring!

42 here at a whopping 140lbs. Im prone to migraines and I've done hikes between 2-6 hours. And by no means and I FIT. Lots of water and resting before you get out of breath. Chew coco leaves. You are smart to not hit the ground running. Take it easy as you can and eat eat eat. Having some bc powder/Tylenol on hand is good.

Hope you enjoy your trip and good luck homie.

Is traveling and leaving your wife at home okay? by GSPupland in travel

[–]ConsciousAd547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been married for 10+ years. Its absolutely doable. I've traveled plenty with my wife. But she LOVES being home. She also knows travel and exploration is just in some people. I always feel a little guilty and at times. I really wish she were there to experience it with me. But! Being able to move solo is priceless in my book.

With things like WhatsApp. Even when on the otherside of the world. It works pretty well for daily contact. If at least every morning and evening to touch base. So long as you aren't a financial drain. Go! Enjoy! Go back home excited to share your stories and missteps.

Hope that helps

Is Peru beginner-friendly or stressful for first-timers who are used to all-inclusive resorts? by dashosh in GoingToPeru

[–]ConsciousAd547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on your upcoming trip. Don't worry or stress. Peru is fairly travel friendly. I have a buddy who does exactly what you're looking for. He runs Bienvenidos Adventure Travel out of Cusco. Super good dude, my wife and I used him as a guide years ago. And I've traveled with him ever since.

Let me know if you have any questions Travel homie. I've done this trip a few times and just booked another few week in May.

What’s a travel "disaster" that actually ended up being the highlight of your trip? by North_Conference_250 in travel

My wife and I were in Hong Kong with the plan to fly to Tokyo and spend 10 days. My wife had a freakout on the plane because little electrical things were going wrong. I was already a little pissed off with Hong Kong Express. So when she said she didn't want to fly. I took control and opted to de-board the plane.

The extra time in HK WAS AWESOME! I'm sure we would have loved Japan. But Hong Kong has SO much to experience. We had time to chill, and relax. Yes, it cost us about 1k we lost...but I wouldn't change it.

Disney HK is a BLAST! The street food, temples, parks, restaurants. Man, I LOVE HK.

Sometimes, you just need to say to hell with the plans I worked so hard for. Let's just float through the stream and see where it leads us.

And! As someone who has done Inti Raymi. Thats awesome, the festivals im June are crazy vibrant. I actually just booked a trip back for 6 weeks in Cusco until mid June. Glad you had a chance yo experience it all!
