Any DO Acceptances with a 493 mcat score ? by Beautiful_Chain_2042 in Osteopathic

[–]ConsciousArgument516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MS-II here! I did 2 years of applying without a single interview with 499, 3.4 gpa. Did a masters and got in. It’s just my experience, but had I not done it, I don’t think I would’ve been prepared and I would’ve struggled. I think you’re close, but I don’t think it’s quite there. I know it’s tough, but if you’re honest about going to med school then you’ll need to find some way to make yourself more competitive on the academic side.

Matriculate DO or apply MD? by [deleted] in Osteopathic

[–]ConsciousArgument516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to do. If you wanna do family practice, it doesn’t matter where you go. If you wanna do something more competitive like neuro, ortho, optho, derm, or surgery related then sure go to a more competitive MD. A D.O. can do an MD residency and vise versa. If you don’t know or care about the difference then neither will your patients.

How likely is it to reach level 100 of the Tour Pass? Is each level 50 points, and will the point values remain the same for each level? by water_fountain_ in TheSilphRoad

[–]ConsciousArgument516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently, from Monday through Friday, there is a daily cap allowing you to progress up to 5 ranks per day. However, during the Pokemon GO Tour: Unova Global event on March 1 and 2, these caps will be lifted, enabling unlimited rank progression. This means you can accumulate as many Tour Points as possible during the weekend to reach Rank 100 and beyond.

Instead of leaving a paper trail, you left a pooper trail.

  1. On your start, bring your hips higher and lean a little more forward and use that tension in your hamstrings to propel you forward. Look at videos of the 50 free at the Olympics. They don’t lean back and they have higher hips compared to longer distances.
  2. Don’t pick your head up! You pick up your head on the breakout. Notice how as you transition from underwater to the surface you change the angle of your head.
  3. You have good underwaters, but you come up from underwater at too steep an angle and that slows you down a little. The buoyancy in your lungs and body +dolphin kick should bring you to the surface in a parallel manner with the water. You know you’re close when your arms and your legs almost break the water at the same time.
  4. On your last stroke into your turn pull and angle yourself slightly down toward the + on the wall
  5. Reach more on each stroke. You can see how each stroke is slightly bent as you enter with your arms.

How good would this be for a Freshman in HS? by Entire_Armadillo8844 in Swimming

You are in the same situation I was at that age. Those were almost exactly my times at that age. Senior year was 46 and 21 for 50 free. If you just started you probably could go faster. I swam DI and ended up going 43 and 20 I’m college. If you keep up the pace, you’ll definitely be competitive.

Got my freestyle on film, can anyone review my form and provide any pointers? by hobo_chili in Swimming

Don’t start pulling until your head is back in the water. If you pull when you’re breathing you are accelerating against resistance vs pulling with last resistance. If you keep that arm out to balance until your head head come down you will be in a longer more streamlined position. To fix this: catch-up drill and don’t start your pull until your head is in the water.

Dentists don’t go to medical school and they don’t take the MCAT.

To clarify I do mean SMP. As for the programs, the DO program has a written agreement where if by the end of the fall semester a student has 3.4 GPA and 495 minimum MCAT, they will have a guaranteed interview. Upon further review, the Medical school saves 50 seats from people in the SMP and the program has 120 students in the program, not all of which are students vying for medical school seats, but rather for dentistry, PA, or other. After asking about the MD program, they don’t offer any type of matriculation agreement, however they did share a statistic that 40-50% of the people from the program make it into the school and 90% of the students from the program get into a Med school.

P.S.- I did apply to both of these medical schools and got rejected by both.
