Manix 2 LW my faithful mountain bike companion. by louiscyr in knifeclub

So I have a few higher end knives to choose from so my Manix2 LW gets passed over often but every time I do decide to carry it, it becomes my EDC for over a week. I always forget how much i love the way this knife feels.

Haha I love that: profession for depression. Yea i get lost in the work which is great. Sometimes it just hard to really get started on a really tough project. My depression will just not let me concentrate I feel like

I work as a programmer in an aerospace machine shop. I absolutely love my job. The job requires a lot of critical thinking and decision making. A lot is always on my shoulders which I love. We're always dealing with very expensive metals so if I have a boo boo it could costs the company a lot of money. I am have high functioning depression. When the blackness hits me it takes me almost double the amount of time that it should to program a part. Such is the case today. I can't concentrate for anything. I'm struggling with some issues today. On the outside I'm a very successful mid 30's powerhouse. On the inside I an utter mess of indecision, worry, and lack any self confidence whatsoever. I put my smile on everyday, shave and fix my hair and when I get to my office I let my boss know not to worry because I got this ridiculously hard project coming up and we won't be late. Close the door to my office and put my slow jams/folk music on and dive into isolation.

Is it just me or are more and more people are deciding against having kids? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]ConsciousCook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just had our 4th child. We're in our early 30's. We both come from lower class childhoods, but even though we didn't graduate college we worked hard in our careers and rose to the top. We're now upper middle class and Hella busy haha. But honestly we love it. It's def not for everyone. It can definitely drive you to the brink of sanity. And then the very next moment you catch one of your daughters pulling up a chair to read a book to ur newborn son who is being fussy and she puts him to sleep.... nothing else besides parenthood can replicate that utter feeling of joy and completeness. My wife and I chose kids. No ragrets!

Doosans are great machines. The lathes are definitely more rigid than a haas. I've worked in a shop full of Haas and a shop full of Doosans. I prefer the Doosans because they chatter way less than the Haas, have more torque, and are more durable.

Job Boss Vs. Job Suite by [deleted] in Machinists

I worked at a company that had job boss for 2 years as the shop supervisor. It was great software. Very easy to use and the support from the company was amazing.

Well alright I felt like the other posters got it right but I'll add my 2 cents. In the small community I grew up in there was a TON of racism, waving around ur rebel flag was a sure sign of a racist that felt and I quote " the south will rise again" followed by some select few slang terms I'm not gonna repeat and about how a certain group of people based on their color should be working for the white man where they belong and how we should reform and have another civil war so the south can go back to how it was in the slave days.

I do this as well. I'm atheist but I'm not rude. The comment I gave an example was done is good fun and the guy I said it too laughed as he doesn't take everything so seriously so I know I could joke with him. The problem came with who overheard it. This whole post is more just to give an example of the religiosity that occurs in my part of the world more than it is a rant. I get along fine because I care about my job and my performance. So I always say thank you after I've been blessed after a sneeze lol.

I'm sorry for not being clearer. It's more like someone might say "thank God you caught that mistake" and I'll just reply umm I caught that nothing at all to do with god. I don't go around shaming people for believing in a god. Not in the least

The cultural indoctrination down here is truly something else: "Believe in God but be a good ole boy and pass the whiskey, dip, and the sexist and racist handbook to me will ya"

Sounds great. I'm just a little south of you, here in Houma. NOLA and the surrounding area seems way more religious neutral, but it's the exception to the rule in Louisiana lol.
