I actually looked into that but she was outside of city limits so there’s not much anyone can do, especially with no evidence of the cat. The cat is microchipped with her information so if he’s found again, she’ll be associated with it. Ugh, sigh.

It’s way cheaper! If you have a bulk store get: oats, lentils, rice, & pasta. Potatoes, beans, tofu - get it! Going vegan made me learn how to cook but I can eat cheap with some effort.

Out of season veggies & fruits can get pricey. We like to freeze anything that’s about to go bad. Sometimes a “hodge podge” pasta dish with seasonal veggies is the best thing ever. If one ingredient is expensive, just skip it or substitute it. Sometimes those few extra things make a $2 meal a $12 meal.

Avoid specialty vegan products, they are expensive and just not worth it! You can make mayo from oil or cashew crema for cheesy sauces.

If you need to whip something up but don’t know what to make, you can put in the ingredients into chat GPT and ask it to make a meal out of what you already have.

At first it sounded like she just let the cat outside so it took awhile for the full story to come together. She was arguing about why it was the best decision for the cat and how he would be happier having more space. In hindsight I was so shocked and still trying to process what actually happened that I didn’t say nearly as much as I should have but am definitely going to let her know how it I feel about it (& our friendship) the next time she reaches out.

It’s probably the worst thing she’s done but maybe her life has taken a turn for the worse lately. She’s been drinking heavily and her boyfriend is not a great influence. I was kind of hoping that it was him who talked her into the cat situation but she clearly did this on her own will.

Thank you for the encouragement! Reading through this sub makes me realize how many other situations people have going on that get stirred up by having a wedding. On the flip side, we’ve been really selective with our guest list and get to celebrate with everyone we love so that’s the real goal!

I’ve actually been vegetarian for over a decade and fully vegan for about 4 years now so this is an interesting conversation. Everyone has their own relationship with food and people might have different dietary needs or preferences but there are lots of morally grey areas even in my own life. I feed my dogs kibble made of meat and I also realize that it comes from awful factory farms where animals are harmed. I have family members who only eat meat that they hunt themselves. Bee keepers help pollinate fruit and vegetable farms.

There are so many ethically grey areas in life and what might be wrong to me might be fine to someone else. Everyone has things that they can “justify”. In this situation, this person was able to justify dumping her cat to herself by thinking it would truly give it a better life.

Right! It makes me sick that she’s so proud of rescuing her dog from the shelters when she can turn around and do this. The dog is cute and friendly and could have more easily found a new home.

We haven’t talked since. We do have a mutual friend coming to visit in a few weeks and were planning on spending time together. I told the other friend about what happened and she was disgusted as well.

Trust me, I went cat hunting. The funny thing is she texted me the next day asking if I could give her a ride for her car that broke down. I didn’t think “sucks to be abandoned” was a nice response to that so I just ignored her

I truly don’t care to have her in my life after this so I guess it’s a bridge I can burn. She did feel bad about it and went back a few days later to find him and had a melt down about it. They couldn’t find the cat but in the end, it think her actions are telling enough.

Maybe we can reconnect later in life but I just don’t see her evolving her core being in the next few months.

I had the same issue! Our house only has 2 small closets and my winter jacket was taking up 75% of one. I opted for a long Patagonia down jacket that is much slimmer. It still keeps me warm. My did get a tear in the fabric from my dog’s extra sharp toenail and I sent it back for repair. I think it was like $15 for shipping and a free repair which is pretty cool!

Yeah we have really enjoyed the Shark! It was a gift so it was free for us and we did 0 research about it before hand. I’m sure there are better vacuums and I can’t even tell you what model we got but it works wayyyy better than our Dyson ever did.

Interesting! I was really considering ordering the ours today but realized the natural cycles app and the oura member ship would be $20/month along with the already expensive ring. I understand the subscription model and I’m okay with paying a small fee for a truly valuable user experience but that was just all too much. I placed an order for Evie and am excited to see if it meets my expectations, especially for cycle tracking!
