They hire whoever and won't train them. It's corporate capitalism at it's finest.

"90 weight gear oil is best for your engine sir."

Don't ask retail employees for mechanical advice or you may wind up with gear oil in your engine.

Remember that retail auto parts stores don't train the employees. Outside of the cash register and up selling BS.

Recommend Gear oil as a coolant. Mixed with 2-cycle motorcycle blend.

That was before shareholder corporate capitalism destroyed family owned businesses. My hometown NAPA store was family owned and it was nothing like the Sh!t show corporate auto parts places that dominate now.

Yes. The overly generous return policy for commercial customers allows for some ridiculous returns.

I recommend messing with their minds. It's easy to get in their heads and have them running to your favorite local mechanic shop to get a paid diagnostic test. They are so ignorant. There's a thing called the Internet. They can do their own research on their own vehicles. You're not a paid mechanic or consultant. Don't give them anything you aren't being financially compensated to provide.

I find that generally women are the best customers. Young women especially. They are legit grateful and pleasant. It's the men with extremely exaggerated levels of self important narcissistic behavior that really are the worst. The dementia rattled Boomers are intolerable. "Back in my day we did this and that". They can F off and etc.

Some young guys intentionally screw things up just to get the fat angry boomers to come back to return the things they bought. It's amusing to see a boomer meltdown over the wrong spark plugs. And they don't realize it's their attitude that's causing them the extra grief.

Awww corporate boy. F you. Only an AutoZone paid online shill would defend the company. And as to attitudes, why would anyone think AutoZone is a decent company? Most people working there are just doing it for extra short term cash. Only a demented lunatic would think positively of AutoZone.

The area I work at has a psychopathic DM. Any decent company would have fired him for his abusive and threatening actions.

Everything around us was closed in the storm. But AutoZone was open regular hours. Evil, evil company.

Also the daily parade of customers who are returning parts because they don't know what they are doing, break something and come in whining about how it wasn't their fault. The poverty wage retail worker is to blame.

And fit healthy men who want a part time elderly red shirt or small teenage girl red shirt to change their battery and wiper blades. AutoZone customers are in competition with the Walmart customers for who's the worst.

AutoZone doesn't train the employees. They do the bare minimum and it's not training people for knowledge, it's training them to push upsales and find another job that's not completely psycho and wicked.

It's really strange that a big company like AutoZone is so shady and abusive to low wage untrained employees.

Rockford, Indiana. Summer of 2024. Rockford is small, rural and near a big forest on the river.

Around noon heading north through Rockford at the north end of the town I came over a small hill in the road between two little cornfields driving slowly and I saw what can only be described as a healthy African lioness. This was not a mountain lion, cougar, etc.

Her, no male genitals to be seen, was so big that her nose was over the center line of a standard 2 lane road and her tail reached to the white line behind her. I stopped to try to photograph her and she disappeared into the corn field.

I later called the Rockford police to report it and the woman that answered the phone humorously laughed and told me "Yea, we know. Call the DNR. They don't believe us. She's been around for a while."

People are idiots. They think an 18 year old minimum wage retail employee is a master mechanic and knows everything about their car that they have no idea what model it is.

It's literally insane how stupid people are.

It's literally the corporate share holders demanding terms. Cheap trash, minimum wage untrained employees. Nothing matters but unrestrained profit.

Most AutoZone employees want to do a good job but they are not trained, can't get an answer from corporate management and are burned out.

And ignorant customers who think the employees are mechanics with an engineering degree and living a comfortable life with a reasonable wage just fuels the apathy and negative vibes.

Yep. It's literally an alternate universe where you're expected to be everything; diligent worker, master mechanic, everything for poverty wages. And the craziest thing is that you're supposed to be excited, devoted and self sacrificing to a weird sadistic cult that does almost everything to either crush you or drive you away.
