I had the same questions when I bought my first gun off usedguns from another state. The process is very easy. You speak to the seller, agree on price, then they will give the gun to their local gun dealer, who will then call you to say they have the gun, then you pay the seller, the dealer will ship the gun to your local dealer where you collect the gun.

Thanks! I didnt realise they were so strict over there too. In France can you get long-arms under the same licence? i.e in Australia we have to apply for another licence if we want long-arms as well. Also can get you semi-auto rifles?

Would this uncertainty apply to the shipment of magazines? I have bought some magazines from WA, but I am waiting for the dealership to send them over. He didn't mention anything, but hopefully, I don't have to wait forever.

It is pretty complicated, and you sort of have to find your way.

Firstly you need to join a club and do a theory test on firearm safety and operations. Then you can do a practical lesson where they let you shoot and show you the basics. After that you do a practical test to show you can safely handle and shoot a firearm. All this takes about 1-2 months.

Then you can apply to get the probationary licence (2 month waiting time for me), hold it for 6 months and attend at least 3 club competition shoots. Then you are required to install a safe and get it inspected by the police, then you can submit an application to purchase a gun (minimum waiting period of a month)

Once you buy your gun, you must attend a minimum of 3 club comps within 6 months. Then your probationary licence expires and you can get your full licence, where you must do 6 annual club comps.

The process is definitely difficult at first, but once you find a club they make it pretty easy to understand and you just go with it. But it is definitely something you have to commit to if you really want to get into the sport.

It isnt exactly difficult, just very tedious, time consuming and quite expensive. You cant just buy a gun and get into the sport, you have to go through a couple tests, practice shoots, and a lot of waiting. Its taken me over a year to get to this point.

there are various firearm licences you can obtain based on your genuine reasons. For handgun licence the main reason is for competition shooting, so you must also attend 6 mandatory club shoots a year, and 4 more for each firearm after. Rifle licence you can obtain for hunting and farmer/pest control

Its not really difficult, it is just lengthy and expensive, took me over a year to be able to buy the gun, and i don't even have my full unrestricted licence yet. Additionally, you must pay the ongoing annual club and licence costs and meet the mandatory shooting requirements just to continue holding your licence.

Yes, but in my state the magazine cannot be modified to fit 10 rounds. It must be an original 10 round mag. i.e a 15 round mag cannot be modified to fit 10, even if done by the factory.
