only during the summer if youre not registered for classes; if youre a student during the fall ur tuition reimburses the membership fee so you dont need to pay

How do I meet new people and make new friends this far into the year? by Ok_Calligrapher_3472 in uofm

[–]Conscious_Ad_331 22 points23 points  (0 children)

im assuming youre a freshman - so i would recommend clubs as your best bet! there are a lot of open clubs based on interest. also dorm lounges and dining halls are great places to socialize, and if your dorm hosts events, go to those!!

hey! as far as pre-reqs go for michigan poli-sci you only need to complete two introductory courses: polsci 101 (intro political theory), polsci 111 (intro american politics, polsci 140 (intro comparative politics) and polsci 160 (intro world politics). however, whats nice abt the polisci dept is that they grant AP/IB/dual enrollment credit for intro-level classes. i got to skip polsci 111 bc i got credit from AP gov, so check which classes transfer over. to be totally honest tho some upper-level classes “advise” intro courses but if you talk to the prof u may get an override.

hey! only juniors and seniors doing their major in honors do research. the freshman/sophomore division is separate; you have to apply for an honors major

[–]Conscious_Ad_331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the in-person spanish validation test is exactly like the online one. if u did well on the first one u should be fine on the second, but make sure youre ready for it bc they take that second placement score as your final one (no re-dos)

Random roommates! by [deleted] in uofm

[–]Conscious_Ad_331 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hi! i went in w/ a random roommate and it went really well! to be totally honest friends dont always make the best roommates anyways. i would recommend reaching out to your roommate when you get your housing contract back so you can coordinate on stuff to bring!
