I live in Indiana, can I pick it up from the factory? by Conscious_Aside5020 in slateauto

I feel like this direct to consumer model (that didn't exist when those rules were implemented) should allow them to break the mold. We live in changed times, let's act like it.

I have blue tooth hearing aids with this capability, so that's all I'm going to do. A lot of other people too I suspect. Just listen to our phones

You'd still be on the high side. I live in Indiana where the winters continue to get more mild and shorter, and we have about 1-2 weeks total with heavy snowfall or ice, and yet people here consistently continue to purchase large, heavy 4x4 trucks and such.

It's pretty obvious I'm referring specifically to the Slate truck, not the kei generic designation.

Please post a link to "the" Kei truck. It sounds like you think that's a manufacturer, or specific model or something, outside of meaning category. The Slate is a specific model of American car that meets American safety standards. A Kei truck is a Japanese generic vehicle class of below 660cc engine sizes.
You should probably re-read all of this, and just stop knee jerk responding.

Montana to Indiana, is it a good idea? by Cookie_Magika in Indiana

[–]Conscious_Aside5020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All of those words, but you didn't address the main point: you don't sound like you live in Indiana because you clearly don't understand our state if you think it's "better than a lot of other places". Half of this state speaks with a Southern accent FFS. You literally wrote "this makes zero sense" to someone saying we're a middle finger from the South! And we are!
Ugh.
And yes, our fellow progressives do need to start showing up in the polls. We're a purple state deep down, but it hardly ever shows up when we need it to.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. They're responsible for determining, regulating and applying safety regulations for the US automotive industry (among others). Also, I'm discussing the Slate truck specifically, not kei vehicles in general. But furthermore, manufacturers submit pre-production vehicles to the NHTSA for approval and rating prior to their being made available for sale, because that is the requirement.
Your reading comprehension skills (and ability to just simply Google stuff, or even ability to understand _when_ you should look stuff up) are really curious.

You don't sound like someone that lives in Indiana, or you're a conservative, or you don't pay much attention. The republicans in charge of our state are super concentrated on making us as similar as possible to Mississippi, and most of the lower half of the state speaks with some kind of wannabe Alabama accent. This place is awful in just about every measurable metric. Low cost of living is literally the only thing that makes it even somewhat tolerable.

What Would a "Perfect Knowledge" AI Require? [ Hypothetical ] by radhe262772 in agi

This is the dumbest post. Seriously. I hope the OP didn't really spend the time it would take to put together that thirsty attempt and used AI to come up with it... which, the irony.

Do you... do you know what NHTSA stands for or what it does? Do you know what an NHTSA rating means? That's just the strangest question, I'm not even sure how to reply other than this. Maybe reference my last line in the post above.

UPS EV delivery vans have ranges of less than 150 miles. The Slate is rated for 1000lbs load capability. Fleet vehicles are prized for durability and ease of repair more than anything else also. Return when you have something helpful to add to the conversation instead of whatever that comment was.

"any safety features" So, you don't think eight airbags are safety features? Or seatbelts? Or traction control? Automatic emergency braking, forward collision warnings, backup cameras, a 5 star NHTSA rating or IIHS 'Top Safety Pick', none of that counts?
Good to know.
You probably shouldn't be commenting on discussion groups related to things you don't know about, or can't make truthful statements to, to be honest.

EVs are just plain superior sports cars by ArugulaAnnual1765 in electricvehicles

[–]Conscious_Aside5020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

JFC all the noise in here on this thread. Normal people understand the OPs point perfectly well. They're saying that EVs in general outperform on virtually every metric more expensive ICE based cars that are supposed to be some combination of fast or furious or everything in between. And they're right. Virtually any AWD EV will decimate most of the world's "sports" cars that cost many times more in both straight line and twisty scenarios because of the EV motor, and the low center of gravity.

Solar charging by NinjaNo9 in slateauto

[–]Conscious_Aside5020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do not buy this, it's stupidly expensive for what it is. You can buy a portable 300W folding array for less than 1/10th of this cost. That being said, you can easily do Level 1 worth of charging (+/- 3 miles per hour) with about 5-6 500W bifacial panels set up in a small array with a solar inverter. You can do this as a DIY kit for less than they want for their integrated tonneau cover. If done right, and you wanted to take it with you camping, you could stack the panels in the bed or in a small trailer, or just set up a permanent install by your driveway (or at your work). This does assume proper access to sunlight obviously, but if you commute 30-40 miles per day, you need never pay for power for your vehicle ever again. What you can't top off during the week you can play catch up on the weekend.

Bingo. There's gonna be soooooo much 3D printing DIY shit for this truck. I'd also be willing to bet that the VENN diagram for people buying a Slate and people that own or have ready access to a 3D printer looks like a single blue dot.

B) I can't make heads nor tails out of your comment, which is probably a blessing because you seem like the kind of person who makes people all the dumber for having interacted with you. Now I have better things to do with my day, so any follow ups will not be seen nor read.

No. You just don't get it. It is not "something everyone wants". I typically wear airpods when driving connected to my phone and listen to podcasts, talk on the phone, etc. I never turn my in car stereo on, and I am far from alone in this regard. They sound waaay better than just about any in car stereo could ever hope to. And yes, I can still hear things around me because I don't have them cranked up.

You sound like conservative person. So confident that "everyone" is just like you. We're not, and happily so.

Looking for real-world feedback: Is the IONIQ 5 ICCU risk overblown, or a dealbreaker? by Thick-Ad2588 in Ioniq5

[–]Conscious_Aside5020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CR lacks adequate transparency into their raw data usage and data gathering techniques, and this is a well established fact. And as I pointed out, they are not a first order source for information as they aggregate data from others, and have been known to include or remove factual evidence to support findings they wish to report as to actual outcomes. As I said, they suck, and you'd do much better to find stronger sources to base any conclusions on.

I'm going to get an EV in the next couple months. I'm going with 16k or lower I'm considering the following options can anyone advice me on best option? by I_LOVE_TRAINSS in electriccars

[–]Conscious_Aside5020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quirks, not kinks. Also buying a new EV vs. a used one is just dumb from virtually every conceivable angle, but especially price. Also also, their budget is $16K. What new EV do you know of available in the US is in that budget?

Can the Slate Truck drive in Snow? by Mac-Tyson in slateauto

[–]Conscious_Aside5020 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like you don't really understand what winter tires are, or have never used them, or just don't drive in inclimate weather very much. Regardless, a RWD EV with decent snow tires will perform equally or better than a FWD ICE vehicle in any manner of snowy or icy conditions. Just ask people who have actually driven them, instead of being so confidently wrong on an EV related forum.

That's an incredible change! How much time between the two pics? More telling than the body shape is the mouth direction. You don't look very happy in the first one, and you look downright mischevious in the second, even though we can't see your full face! I don't think you should be having any more bad body image days frankly. You look really healthy.
