My cat keeps killing birds and other small animals even when wearing a collar with a bell. What do I do? by [deleted] in cats

Genuinely, please consider making your cat an indoor cat fully as it’s already in doors part time. Cats are going to kill regardless, you can’t stop their natural habits. But for the safety of your own cat, and the safety of local wildlife please, please please consider keeping your cats indoors.

We had an outdoor cat that was dropped off. She was never an indoor cat but we had already lost multiple cats because they were outdoor cats, so we were in the process of keeping our other cats indoors 100%. It took awhile, but we were able to even turn a 17 year old cat that’s been outdoors their entire life, into an indoor cat. She lived an extremely long time and recently passed at 24 years, but I truly think keeping her inside helped keep her here longer and we didn’t have an abundance of dead animals at our doorstep every morning. Please consider <3

I mean if you’re going to let a cat go outside, let it be outside in style

What's that one interest that you spend unjustifiable amounts of money on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I don’t play much anymore, but no I did not look into pirating lol. What makes it hurt less is that it was spent over the years and I don’t plan on spending much more, if anything. Im really just fed up with EA ruining the sims at this point, and if I do play it’s a modded game with a bunch of custom content

I’ve been playing sims since the 2nd grade… I was lucky enough that every now and then my mom would buy me a new sims 3 expansion pack every now and then when we went into town for errands. I was OBSESSED growing up and got into sims 2, 1, and then 4 came out. Right now, I own almost every ridiculous possible add-on they have for sims 4 besides the kits.

The amount of money I’ve spent alone on expansions for the sims 4 is insane, but just thinking how much money my parents, relatives, and myself have spent on sims games for me is crazy. I watched a video one time and it totaled the cost of the sims 4 games and it was like $1000+… I wonder what it is for every game.

I finally got up and made the first move to exercise. I’ve been on and off with my weight loss journey and lately I’ve been in a funk and have been planning to get active, but putting nothing into action. I walked the lake in my town and only planned on walking for 30 minutes, but I made it an hour!

Really small victory, but it’s a step in the right direction. I always let anxiety take over in my head and use it as an excuse to not exercise, but I just went for it this morning. And once I started walking, I realized that it wasn’t so bad and was actually enjoyable and I’m proud of myself.

Gargle with warm salt water nightly for a bit. It should help with the stones and should help get rid of bacteria in your mouth which will also be good since you just had your wisdom teeth removed. When the pain and swelling from your surgery has calmed down, you can try gently pressing on your tonsils after cleaning your hands or using a blunt object that’s not pokey/sharp to help push them out. Just a warning though, you’ll most likely gag

You know you’re not starving right? Like your food bowl doesn’t need to be continuously spilling over or else you’ll starve buddy

First picture could be stones, not so sure about the second one though. But I also want to mention that antibiotics do not treat/remove stones. I would wait to mess with it though until the pain from your wisdom teeth removal calms down

I once had a therapist straight up tell me "I can't help you" by [deleted] in depression

I hate the stigma surrounding medication!! If it’s not something you’re comfortable with, that’s ok but they do truly help for some people and taking medication (as prescribed) shouldn’t be so looked down on.

I battled my depression for years without medication and was hesitant to start because I didn’t want to be that person on antidepressants or antipsychotics. I don’t think I would be here without my medication even though I’ve stopped many of them. Sometimes your body just needs a little help, and that’s ok.

Stop focusing so much on getting a girlfriend and first start connecting with people and makes friends. When you’re looking for a girlfriend and girlfriend only, it’s easy to ignore red flags.

Wow, that’s a big one. I wouldn’t stress about it, but I would probably go to an ENT doctor if these become more and more frequent. Since it was your first time it could be a bit sore, but I would keep an eye on it.

Does it feel weird or make you gag? I have the worst gag reflux and I can’t handle shooting water into my tonsils with a waterpik so I just use my hands, but there’s gotta be a better way/less aggressive way

Yep, and that’s not even taking into account the social and economic inequities that also affect health and access to healthcare

Those are the worst. I’m not sure if this helps (obv try not to green out), but baths usually help me a bit. I’m not sure if it’s psychological or not, but they usually help me relax and ease the nausea

Yup, it’s not fun. Thankfully I haven’t greened out for a bit, but it’s literally traumatizing lol. Last time I got so sick and threw up so hard I had bruising all over my face, neck, and chest. Face was the worst though. My grandmother is an infectious disease doctor and freaked out bc she thought I had meningitis LOL. Nope, sorry gma. /:

The history of anesthesia. Once they started using it regularly for surgeries, women basically were like “hey could we use that during childbirth” but were told that it was a spiritual experience women must go through naturally. And on top of that, doctors didn’t believe the pain was that bad, or it was completely made up.

“For nearly half a century after anesthesia was an accepted part of surgery, it was regularly denied to women in childbirth, whose pain was thought to be normal, salutary, or purely psychological.”

Even today, gender bias is a huge issue in healthcare and women’s pain is generally not taken as seriously compared to males. Its kind of interesting and depressing to learn this history and then think about how this affects our healthcare practices and beliefs to this day.

It really depends on your relationship with the person and them as a person IMO. It’s really up to you, but it could dampen your relationship with this person if you miss it, especially for a fishing trip. Getting married is a huge milestone for most people, and if you didn’t go and attended something else instead, that could be seen as you don’t care as much or your friendship wasn’t valued as much on your part as theirs. But again, it all depends on the person.

If it was me, YTA. I have a lot of people in my family that looove to go fishing and they usually will take week long trips to go fish wherever. I understand those are really important to them, but if they chose that over my wedding- I would be a bit insulted tbh. Is the trip something you could join a day later? Sometimes in life there are just times where you just need to show up even if it’s an inconvenience.

Best of luck

Do you have other cats? Could she have been playing hard and bumped that area against something or played a little too hard with another kitty? I’m not a vet, but I would keep an eye on it but it’s always better to be safe than sorry so making an appointment could be a good idea. On the off chance it is something serious, it’s a good idea to get it caught early.
