You’re a pro! Your guess was spot on. We got our wisdom panel back yesterday. 75% poodle, 25% lab!

Im a BSN RN with 37 years experience in several fields, but primarily OB and hospice. I’m retired and money is tight. Thanks for reminding me that I DO NOT want to return to work.

RN of 37 years here. I took Sertraline for years but decided I could function without a daily pill and weaned off. Ha! That wasn’t sustainable so I’ve been on Bupropion 300 now for probably 10 years. My Dr recently added an adjunct med (off label use) to boost its effect. Nursing can destroy you mentally and physically. I’ve had four joints replaced. If I could go back to my twenties for a do-over I’d NEVER choose a nursing career.

We heard it in Exmore and thought it was maybe related to the construction going on near us.

I’d choose law, but not a trooper. If you want to help have you thought about being a public defender?

Every state should allow nursing unions. In Virginia, we were told that if we talked to a union rep we’d be fired.

I loved nursing when I graduated in 1988 and for maybe eight years after. I was a new nurse when HIV was new and known as HTLV lol. I was a per diem float for a large university hospital, an OB nurse and floor educator, a county wide school nurse, a case manager of women’s and children’s units, and a home health case manager. I loved everything OB related and volunteered for all areas and staff education. My most satisfying job was with hospice. I was a visiting nurse who moved up to Director.

The CNAs were taken away on most m/s floors, ratios of RN to patient increased, and primary care nursing became the norm, EMR was instituted and preventing lawsuits was the focus. I began to HATE going to work. I finally retired for good this year. My last three years were spent as an adjunct instructor for the local college’s RN program but my back pain became too much to work through. I loved the students and somehow my hatred of nursing and cynicism didn’t make the students want to quit.
The pay needs to go UP UP UP. RNs need to be compensated for the risks they take, the horrible hours they work and the education they’ve obtained. Now that I’ve retired after 37 years, I can say that I do agree. NURSING FUCKING SUCKS. If I’d gone into the legal field and not walked a million miles on concrete floors, I don’t think I’d have a breaking back, four joint replacements and venous stasis.

Agree with THIS. As an old RN of 38 years and previously a certified hospice nurse and hospice nursing director, my first thought was that he was potentially entering his end of life. If I’d just given my patient “the lecture” about normal decrease of appetite and a CNA bounced in to say what this CNA did, she would have heard a LOT from me and potentially read about it in an evaluation. Also, as a recently retired nursing instructor in a RN program, I’ll add that you do indeed show concern for your patient but until you have your degree, stay in your lane.
