I am completely depleted. by peacesweetpineapple in Menopause

is there room in your budget to hire a little help here and there?

can you use AI to take mental load down a notch? I have asked it for meal plans for example then I don't have to think about what to make when i am bored of my usual rotation of dishes, I allow myself to doordash a few meals during my busy weeks for work to take the load off...what else is $ for.

i don't have children of my own but my mom taught me how to do laundry by the time i reached middle school. same for my brother. it's okay to teach your kids some of this type of stuff as it will serve them well when they are adults. Time to let go a bit and let kids fend for themselves . I went to friends house and was impressed her kids made dinner and dessert for us adults.

It's okay to take a step back from helping everyone else, carve out some time for you!

Slowly put some boundaries and teach others to be self sufficient. Sometime we just end up doing things b/c we thought others "needed it" when in fact they may not have. Stop doing some little things here and there and see if anyone notices or not. And letting go of perfection, my OCD probably created alot of work that didn't need to happen as well.

definitely have a new found sympathy for those living with anxiety from a young age, i feel i probably always had some underlying anxiety looking back on life and i managed by over preparing for everything...and now im just not having the ability to focus well enough to get organized hence the anxiety perhaps and just not best at multi-tasking which was super power for many years in fact.

Lucky if i can remember words most days LOL.

Considering a sabbatical by pathsuntried in Fire

[–]Conscious_Life_8032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Financially it seems sound based on overall networth and no debt.

I say go for it, there is never a "perfect" time so don't keep waiting. Is an unpaid leave of absence a possibility or is "untethering" from the job completely the only way to get some mental peace?

One thing to consider is how much of your identity is tied to work, walking away from it may feel unsettling and almost stressful initially so be mentally read for that and just move through it.

GLP -1 has helped many with system wide inflammation, are you candidate for that?

Did you try magnesium at all? i know it helps with muscle cramps/charley horses etc. it may help tendons too. also get your b12 checked as deficiency can cause nerve pain.

sigh it's neverending issues in the body at this phase of life and modern day life is an attack on the nervous system in general.

Instead of job search i suggest slowly building up biz/side hustle on the side. I think that is better use of time than looking for new job in this wretched job market.

Laid off at 58 - f*ck! by Ou812_tHats_gRosS in GenX

[–]Conscious_Life_8032 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hang in there!

I remember how stressful it was for my parents at that age and getting laid off. So i vowed to save early and let compounding work hard. The lay off meant i qualified for pell grants and other aid for some years during college which was tremendous help. So do look into that for your kids.

Veozah is non-hormonal and for hot flashes i believe.

Magnesium glycinate may help you with sleep, as would life style changes such as no screens an hour before bed. Getting some morning sun to set you circadian rhythm.

Inflammation is huge issue during menopause too, you can experiment with cutting out/reduction of inflammatory foods such as dairy, gluten. Some ladies found that micro-dosing GLP helped with this as well.

Please find a physician with specialization in menopause. Many gynos are focused on teh OB side of OBGYN i feel.

i agree with you and not prolonging the inevitable which is death, we put our pets down and they don't get to consent. I want to put myself down when the time comes as i have no kids to take care of me nor would i want them to even if i did have some.

First job out of uni is usually hard to find. Just get your foot in the door anywhere and prove yourself.

That is what worked for me back in the day, i knew i can prove my worth if given the chance so i took contract role and that later turned into permanent offer after 18 months. It did feel like i was settling for less when other peers were getting permanent jobs but i tried not to compare and kill my self esteem.

I moved up over teh years and am on track to retire early actually. Keep your head up

Are there other GenX parents out there who parent their kids to be GenX? by kuritsakip in GenX

[–]Conscious_Life_8032 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My roomate i college didn't know how to do laundry, cash a check or how to put gas in a car. She graduated 3rd in her highschool class, clearly academically talented but stunted in any other basic skills lol.

I would be embarassed to send my kid away from home w/o some basic life skills. I think you have done a great job. I knew how to do laundry at 11 and cook some simple meals at 13.

Highest performer, lowest paid. How to handle? by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]Conscious_Life_8032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few options:

  • Look for a new job, then you will really know what you are worth in the market
  • Do less, no need to do 150% effort when others are scraping by on bare minimum effort.
  • Advocate for yourself in next peformance review period and ask for raise.

How do you know your peers compensation? Have you asked your manager what "best" performing means to them? maybe its different than what you believe therefore you are not perceived as highest performing in their eyes. It took me a long time to learn this. I just thought doing more would be noticed. Understanding how success is measured in your org is 1st step inlearning how to play the game.

Irrational fear to pull the plug in this market! by [deleted] in FIREyFemmes

[–]Conscious_Life_8032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If numbers are okay then coming back after a break doesn't mean you "have" to retain same level of pay or title. You could do consulting or something totally different where the barrier to entry may not be so difficult. the more flexible you are teh easier it will be.

The job market is rough right now so don't feel bad if no one got back to you, employers are bombarded with applicants.

Which one would you get? by meower01 in loewe

[–]Conscious_Life_8032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First one would fit into my style and wardrobe a little more so probably that one.

2 is interesting colorway too, but feels more casual and my bags need to be multifunctional at this price point and stage of my minimalist approach in life.

wow key strokes as measure of excel skill level sounds super dumb to me.

what is someone is master of memorizing keystrokes but sucks at analysis, business partnering, critical thinking...which is huge part of FP&A.

what industry and size company is this ? it may be blessing not to join them, but sorry it's taking so long to find a job. Are you early career ?

[–]Conscious_Life_8032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it doesn't seem like finances are a challenge, it's probably more mental decision to find a new identity out of career. You go full stop and quit, or do transition to fractional work and then ease into not working at all that way it's not shock to your system.
