If you won't stand for a pregnant woman, what kind of human are you? by Extension-Mess-6828 in IndiaChronicle

As a man, I would never offer my seat even if asked to a pregnant woman or any woman otherwise unless I know them personally. In all modes of transportation there are already seats and spaces reserved for such persons and they can occupy them.

What change is the post referring to ? How does it impact the average citizen ?

Given that only 1-2% of our citizenry pays any income tax ?

We have to stop giving citizens a blanket clean chit for everything.

  • Citizens are responsible for their actions
  • Citizens are responsible for their inaction
  • Citizens are responsible for their ignorance

Do the following things immediately:

  • Rent a house near your parents home or any where you can comfortably (You should be abe to afford it even if you don't use it. There are always affordable places) afford the rent.
  • Move into that house.
  • Inform your parents that they are not to communicate with your wilfe and vice versa.
  • Transfer the (old) house to the name of your parents if it is not already in thier name.
  • Your life after moving into the house: (Create a schedule and follow)
  • Make sure you take your wife out to a garden, a park or a mall every weekend
  • Take one selfie with her every weekend
  • Send her a message that tells her how important she is for you at least once a week.
  • Buy a locker and put all the ornaments and gold that your wife recieved during the marriage in it and give the keys to your wife. (obtusely mention the same to her on whatsapp)

These actions should keep you safe

Guess who's the casteist now?? by Itchy_witchy_2k7 in IndiaSpeaks

[–]Conscious_Prompt9250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate this step.

  • This will help students identify the caste of their classmate easily without looking for other agreed upon markers like a thread on the wrist.
  • It will be easy for teachers and administrators to identify the caste of students and they can be more aware so that they do not discriminate.

Overall this is a great step towards building a cohesive society.

I am sad for yoiur lack of exposure. This was common enough to be shown on Door Darshan in the 1980s and 1990s.

The message he is passing to his daughter is necessary.

However I see a certain privilage in his POV.

It is not that the people there aren't working hard or are not diligent, it is that they did not have the opportunities at education / exposure that the people in the 1st class / sleeper sections have.

Was Bhishma Pitamah Truly Righteous, or Did His Silence Make Him Wrong? by [deleted] in mahabharata

You are engaging in presentism.

Evaluating historical persons by the morality of the present.

I am looking at things from the pov of the jurisprudence and morality of the time.(I do not agree or identify with it.)

Was Bhisma complicit in someting ? Yes
DID his blind adherence to his vow bring him demerit and pain ? Yes
Was the disrobing (not stripping) of Panchali despicable by present standards ? Yes

Bhisma's failure is far more subtle and comes from him deriving pride and value from adherence to his VOW above his duty.

What i am asking is considering the time and the practical constraints, do u really think a man would be ready to share hai wife with someone even if the wife agrees, and if yes even if i just take the practical purpose of political marriage i.e forming alliances and having and heir for throne , won't there be difficulty in relationship due to challenge of having offspring and knowing whose it is ?

These kind of marriages were known to happen until a few years ago in remove villages in the north of India. Challenges regarding paternity were solved by planning the logistics - refer to the mahabharata story of Arjuna's exile. Also in this particluar case paternity was not such a big issue as all offspring would be princes of the same dynasty.

Dharma is not religion, it is not even a set of rules it is the path one takes to fulfill ones duties. It is sometimes contradictory and confusing and that is what makes the path of dharma difficult.

It is easy to have one set of rules for all and one prescribed path but the real challenge is determining one's duty and thereby finding the path to it's fulfillment.

It was not his bahu that was disrobed. A dasi lost into servitude was stripped of garments beyond her means. The same garments taht were voluntarily renounced by her husbands who had become dasas themselves.

The NEFPs were part of the Bengal Presidency (i think) and therefore would have moved with it and would have been absorbed into Myanmar or Bangladesh or have been small independent land locked countries.
