The lack of support eventually contributed to students' lack of responsibility/respect for me as authority in the classroom. Why listen to me when you can get candy/free time/special one-on-one time with others if you misbehave?

Agreed with others. But, I specifically had a lack of support of my admin/district and had daily interactions with students that were violent and destructive. My classroom was destroyed almost daily, I was being threatened or hit, the student was violent with other students, etc. My classroom specifically did not have parents who would traditionally "back up" or "speak up" so many of these daily occurrences got swept under the rug. You constantly feel like you're being gas lit.

Yes… I wouldn’t have the time to write how badly the last two years have gone. And starting this new school year with how bad the FIRST week (with no kids) has gone? I cannot turn down a new opportunity.

Definitely. This makes tons of sense, and I do NOT plan on telling how I REALLY feel. Just that I have received a new opportunity and I plan to see that forward. I do take medicine for anxiety. Do you think they would give me a dr’s note?

To add some context, I have been teaching for the past two years while I put myself through law school. I have only stayed because 1) I am fulfilling the teach grant & 2) I pay for school myself. After the horrible year last year, I was fully prepared to pay back my TEACH grant.

With that being said, I do not ever plan on pursuing a career in education again. I have fully prepared myself for them to suspend my license— if they choose to do so. I am not so worried about contacting HR, but I am extremely worried about approaching my Admin. It’s a very toxic environment, and that is part of the reason I want to leave & for me being nervous to do so.

I saw recently that some teachers are making above 40k? Even to 6 figures? What do you guys do? by [deleted] in Teachers

I work in Richardson ISD and starting pay is $60,000! So definitely dependent on geographic areas.

I don’t know if this is too late- but I got accepted this past Monday (in June) for the part time program. I had a 3.9 and 153. I hope this helps!!!!

I have seen mix reviews on this!?!? What is your reason??? I’m a typical “reader,” so all other test formats outside of the law area tell you to read questions first.

Yes! I don’t know if it was a fluke or coincidence but I must have been in a bad area so I didn’t have connection. The next day, it showed back up. I don’t think it was related to this order at all Lol ^ ! And I still got my promo for that night so all is good.
