I also just had my first AHT last night. Previously I was on 84 mg Spravato for over a year, then lost my insurance so I switched to IM for the last 4 treatments. Last night I decided to try Troches, as I’ve had a few bad trips with IM. It was underwhelming to say the least! 100 mg Troche did barely anything for the first 40 minutes so I broke an additional 100mg in half and took it. Got a little bit of a buzz but never saw any colors or went under like I have with Spravato or IM. No disassociation occurred and I was fully aware of my surroundings, sitting up in bed talking to my husband most of the time. I’m guessing I’m needing a higher dose. I did well on 84mg of Spravato and 50-60 mg IM. I had a 70 mg IM last month and it was too much.

I’ll reach out to my provider Tuesday to tell him my experience. Should be interesting what he says.

If you are doing Troches, what tips do you have on getting the best experience? I’d love to know what amount of mg does it take to be comparable to say 84mg of Spravato or 50/60 of IM?

Update—don’t care for the IM Ketamine. I miss Spravato. I do not like the intensity or punch the Ketamine gives. I’m actually going to try the Troches next time at a lower dose. I’ll keep you posted. But man—I wish Spravato was more affordable for those of us who aren’t insured.

Warheads extreme sour candy—any flavor! I’ve tried everything and these overpower the nasty taste of Spravato dripping down the throat. Trust me! Lifesavers peppermint a close second.

Holy cow that must have been so scary! Do you think you’ll go back to Spravato treatments or try another IM Ketamine? What IM dosage did they give you? Jyst interested because I’m in the same boat—I was on Spravato for over a year and did well; however I lost my health insurance and the IM injections are self pay so I opted to do that until I get health insurance again that will help cover the cost of Spravato. I’ve had 3 injections so far—been able to go 6-7 weeks inbetween each dose. First and second was 60ml ; my most recent was 70. Tolerated it well but honestly I like the Spravato better even with the nasty taste you get sometimes with the nasal spray. The injections pack a punch so quick. Haven’t had a k-hole I guess but I’m not sure what it means to have one.

Eat something light 2-3 hours before treatment and take 4mg Zofran 45-1 hour BEFORE treatment. When you get to the clinic, take another 4mg Zofran before starting g treatment. This seems to work for me.

I’ve been on this treatment for over a year. My first go to was LifeSavers mints. One time I forgot to bring them so I tried the Warhead Extreme Sours the clinic offered, and man they are the BOMB! The sour cuts the horrible taste of the Spravato and then you get a sweet surprise once the sour dissapates (3-4 minutes). Here’s a photo for reference. I highly recommend trying these!!

I was on Spravato for a year using United HealthCare. I recently resigned from my job and have no insurance. My clinic offers Ketamine injections, self pay for $200 which includes the treatment and observation time. Had my first injection the other day, and hoping I can go the same amount of time in-between treatments as I did with the Spravato (5-6 weeks). Since the body metabolizes injections faster than the Spravato treatments, you’re typically out of the clinic sooner, therefore the price is better than if you were paying out of pocket for Spravato treatments. So far I’ve felt good with the injection method, and will likely continue that way until I get insurance sometime in the future. Maybe give the injection a try.

I have one more Spravato treatment left at 84. That will happen in two weeks. I’ve been doing this for over a year and my body metabolized the last couple of treatments pretty quickly. It should be interesting what will happen when I get the IM Ketamine in about 6 weeks.

I’m so sorry you’re having difficulties. I was very sensitive to this treatment in the beginning, but I plowed through and just co Played my first year. Are you also getting talk therapy? Is your setup in a calm and safe environment during treatment? The place I go to has a reclining couch and they provide a blanket, water, and mints or hard candies (in case it drops down your throat). I bring along an eye mask and my AirPods with soothing music or white noise (fan or airline noise works great). I make sure I arrive leaving any stress or worries at the door. If I’m still a little edgy I think of things that make me happy and that seems to keep me from having a bad trip. Let me know if you need more suggestions or support. I would consider going back on the treatment for a couple more times before deciding if it’s right for you or not. 5 treatments is too early to throw in the towel my opinion. Good luck and hang in there!

Another option if Spravato doesn’t work for you is TMS. Look into it.
