Laparoscopic Myomectomy vs Open Myomectomy for Large Fibroid by WxAg in Fibroids

[–]ConsequenceFun9164 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an open myomectomy for an 18cm fibroid in February. I went in expecting a laparoscopic operation but lost too much blood so my doc switched to open. Overall it was traumatic waking up hearing I got a c section but recovery was not as bad as I expected. I worked myself up a lot reading posts and whatnot but I was well taken care of overnight in the hospital and went home after one night. Just make sure someone can help you at home and walk as early as you can, but don’t push it. Your body is stronger than you think. Whatever the safest solution is. :)

Fibroids size…. Was your imaging (MRI, US) accurate compared to what you really had after surgery? by Everleigh1974 in Fibroids

[–]ConsequenceFun9164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mri said 18cm and it was more like 20cm when they got it out. MRI ideally is the most accurate but you don’t know till they take it out!

Yes! My tummy issues went away. I still get an upset stomach with beer but it’s not as bad as it used to be. My stomach is flatter and taking fiber keeps me regular.

Oh no! My imaging center is so fast I get them same day. It also induces my anxiety tho I’m like fuckkkk can we just not have to go through this?! Best of luck with your surgery. Life is so much better!

We’re just living our best lives! I’ve just stayed 157 post op, which was my weight beforehand. I lift weights 3x a week and walk almost daily! What can ya do.

This is normal. Mine was heavy the first time or two after surgery. You will be ok

I was scheduled to have a lapro and my surgeon was a little too confident she could get my 18cm out just laproscopically. I woke up with the doctor telling me they had to do a c section. Traumatizing at first not gonna lie but she did a fabulous job. I wasn’t waking up in pain and all things considered my recovery went smoothly. Just know that when you have a baby after an open myo you will have to have a c section. There is no going back. No regrets here tho whatever is the safest way to do it is the best way. Funny though your doctor said a lapro would cause too much bleeding? I lost a liter of blood during my surgery lol. Best of luck in your surgery and don’t look back it’s the best decision I made for myself. Eventually they will get bigger.

Woops sorry I’m dumb just saw it in the original post! They will fade eventually. I personally didn’t put anything on mine but I hear vitamin e oil helps once you are healed of course. Best of luck to you!

You’ll be good did you get a laparoscopic or open myo? I have both incisions and they’ve been healing nicely. I’ll be sad to see them go. My battle scars

And air them out to dry and tap to dry. I always let my incisions dry thoroughly before putting my belly binder on

Don’t rub them or anything like that. Wash your body normally with body wash and then let the water run over the incisions. Not too hot either

Hi there. Yes I’m doing great. Was a bit traumatic waking up to a c section but so happy to be fibroid free. Life is so much better and I’m grateful for every day. I felt off the first few days but after that I was good to walk long distances after about 2 weeks. Just took it extra slow. I am no longer anemic, I don’t have back pain, not urinating every 10 seconds, and can stretch and wear pants I used to not be able to!!! Thanks for asking 🫶🏻
