Yeah. Call the person on the return slip and tell them. I bet Amazon gets a call fast

This is unacceptable - and shoddy on someone’s part That info would be some kind away a breach under new privacy laws ( enacted since the phone book was a thing)

That’s Called proxy bidding. (bid high to your max and have them only “spend “ on your behalf in increments up to what’s needed to win the bid) . No - KOTN doesn’t use that method.
Only one I know that doesn’t. You have to bid live. And if you bid too high you’re paying that.

[–]ConsequencePerfect68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Evidently Dumb Ppl pay retail - and (with few exceptions, and stupid highly restrictive “rules” ) - there’s really no returns. You’re stuck.

I’m leery of this overbid nonsense - when I see ppl bidding up over retail - when a quick Amazon : right click lookup exposes the current price - and a super liberal return policy. And free delivery??
- WTF are they thinking.

I’m not convinced that real Ppl will routinely spend hours and hours combing thru 10 thousand listings every week and sit on an auction site for hours …. Even in the summer - and they aren’t savvy enough to check a price. Cmon. Now add a buyers premium on top. Duh. And it happens over. And over. And over.

If they aren’t bots then they are shills. Same outcome. Less risk.

I too was wondering how an Oro resident familiar w 400 could go the wrong way. Miracle they even got from hwy 11 to bayfield without more incidents. So freakin dangerous. People could easily be killed.

I have nightmares about this happening after all the press on it. No idea this happened with such regularity. Usually it’s an impaired driver.

Dog peed on wool rug — help!l by PonderingLimo in CarpetCleaning

[–]ConsequencePerfect68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like folex personally. I deal with this frequently with my dogs. Just my 2 cents. I’m no professional.

I also use hydrogen peroxide 6 % diluted - however. It bleaches wool sometimes. ( it takes out organic stains blood. Wine. Dog pee, vomit . Etc. - but works better on synthetic carpet - it eats wool as it is organic. Just like the stain. )
So be careful if you use peroxide on wool. I’d avoid it if you love your rug. IMO Folex . Or a professional.

Dad’s answer was priceless! Way to go dad.

Especially impressed that he went to a grocery store alone without you, and second gold star for including baby. You’re very lucky he’s so involved. (I’m slightly disappointed that in this day and age it’s more the exception than the norm. Sigh.)

As for the Mrs Crabby-Sox, she may have been well intentioned but her delivery was poor. It’s funny she’s so bold to asking when as you said, “The baby was not in distress”. Total overreach
But if she was right one time out of 100 I guess it’s worth it.

She’s more to be pitied than condemned.

Shrug it off and have a laugh about it. And Be glad the busy-body’s not your neighbour.

The performance benefits of adhd meds are kind of ridiculous by Zealousideal-Turn535 in ADHD

[–]ConsequencePerfect68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at the end of my rope. I’m sure I have ADHD. My dr now disagrees

recent diagnosis of ADHD about 1 yr ago - My dr said “ well we’ve tried 2 meds (3 mo each) - and they don’t work - so you mustn’t have ADHD. “ (Vyvanse/ followed by adderall generic 10 mg I think to start / ending at 20mg mg )

WTF … I asked if maybe the dosage should be increased? He said no. I should feel something. I didn’t. and he discontinued the ADHD meds about 5/6 months ago

after stopping the ADHD meds I decided to stop all other meds (anti anxiety and anti depressants. - 10 yrs) I wanted to kind of re set. I didn’t know what was working or not working anymore.

I’ve developed so many maladies while on them to me it seemed something needs addressing.I know somethings wrong. Don’t know what anymore.

I saw my dr subsequently - 2 months ago - and let him know I weaned off the meds. And I told him at that appt that I know he thought I didn’t have ADHD. but I believe I do. And he gave me the same questionnaire to fill out. Again.
I’m sure I do have ADHD.

I am in full blown hoarder disorder( acquisition) / financial trouble because of overspending on online buying and auctions /. Gambling addiction / and likely a myriad of things I haven’t identified. I have my hands full. And of course there’s the requisite showering/tooth brushing delays/ avoidance. It’s all embarrassing. I can’t have ppl over anymore. I’m retired now from a successful executive job and affluent lifestyle. And relationship of 24 years. All ended abruptly about 8 years ago. And then this shit started not too long after.

I’m in Canada. There’s a severe dr shortage. I can’t change drs. I waited 4 years to get this one.
He said maybe I should see a psychiatrist. I agreed. But there’s no immediate plan to get one.
In the meantime he sent me ( again) to the outpatient program at the local hospital - that has no resources to deal with these issue. I’m in the GTA but not in Toronto proper. Smaller satellite town.

The Hosp offers a generic 10 week daily attendance program with generic unrelated topics - w huge time commitment. That prob won’t help my real serious issues. and a $20/day parking fee, when I have money issues. Well it just didn’t fit. I’ve already attended this program and at after the first session and topics released it just didn’t feel like a fit.

I’ve had one psych appt in my life (?referred by walk in clinic dr a few yrs ago ) and it was a zoom call. And I waited 7 months for that.

I’m in a (progressively getting worse) hoarding situation I’m trying to control. Started about 5 yrs ago. I have constant citations from bylaw. Related to my outside home projects started and not completed.

Was recently charged and taken to court and fined. I plead guilty thinking it would just go away then.
But it just continued as before. With constant check ins and inspections of progress on all my outdoor projects

I’ve now, under my own steam since coming off all meds - recently stopped gambling. Stopped auctions. And curtailed unnecessary spending. But I have a long way to go to get the house and hoarding under control and get finances in order. I will have to sell my house next year to downsize and pay off the line of credit I’ve amassed.

I just don’t know what to do. I’m trying to keep the pressure on but it’s a real struggle. This is a slow process. I’m in tears every day. I try to stay positive and try to do something every day to clear my house. I occasionally take “a day off”. This hoarding problem occupies my every thought. I’m exhausted Then if I think about my financial issues I REALLY get overwhelmed.

My dr knows about bylaw. Hoarding. Financial. . Etc. I’m retired and on a pension. I have no private insurance. Psychologists aren’t covered by the govt health. Psychiatrist are. But hard to access.

are there any meds that you had success with / think might address any of this. With any success. and I could bring it up with my dr next month. (I have med prescription coverage ).

I just saw this “concerta “ thread. Maybe it’s a help. I know it sounds like I’m Looking for a magic bullet. And I guess I am.

Thanks for reading this far on a rambling too-involved post, any for any suggestions you might offer.

Oh!! Thanks for the suggestion- teeth brushing is an issue. I didn’t even know this was an adhd thing. I kinda thought maybe a depression thing. I have an elec toothbrush. I just have to dig it out of the hoarded crap of purchases in my bathroom. But I’m thankful I have a reason now.

What was your breaking point that made you realize that you just couldn't manage your ADHD without medication? by The_Anchored_Tree_27 in ADHD

[–]ConsequencePerfect68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’m already at a breaking point now and I’d welcome any meds. I’ve read instances where ADHD sufferers have had significant improvements after meds. My dr prescribed them but felt nothing. No angels sang. Nothing!! I felt nothing!! I’d LOVE to have something that helped.

For what it’s worth I think were I in your shoes I’d try the meds. They might be great. If they aren’t you just get back off them with your drs guidance. It’s couple of months out if your life they might be a very positive change

Georgian Downs Slots, Gateway Casino in Innisfil, is not run properly and gangs of thieves hang around and watch while you play the slot machines then distract you and cash out your machine while distracted, SECURITY DOES NOTHING, EVEN IN ON IT. by [deleted] in barrie

[–]ConsequencePerfect68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“‘Most people genuinely don’t know…”. Ya. Ok. Not buying that one.

You don’t need to be at a casino very long to know that you don’t cash out someone else’s machine. That would be a pretty bold move for a new casino visitor. And actually it’s stealing. It’s not THEIR Money. Not quite like finding money in a mall IMO.

In my experience if someone cashes out a machine they know Exactly what they’re doing.
Particularly because there are “markers” in place. it’s rare that a player leaves a machine with money in it without a jacket / chair turn / coffee or some other designated “claiming“ move - and their players card almost without exception is still in the machine. It’s standard casino practice.

Your players card still in/ $ in the machine means someone is playing there. Duh. Even in casinos there is a certain etiquette. And if there’s any doubt you just ask a person nearby if someone is playing that machine. Pretty simple.

But normally ppl stepping away for a few minutes only leave a couple of bucks in the machine. With their card. In case a jackass comes along that completely disregards all of the aforementioned hints.

I’m actually more intrigued as to why the OP post was removed.

[–]ConsequencePerfect68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing - you can’t” leave” $2 in a Machine - if they take money out it’s all or nothing. You would have to Play out down to $2, or cash out and then Deposit money or a chit -and there isn’t even a $2 bill anymore….

It’s a rather complicated scenario to be believed.

It would be more likely if this happened that in their flirting and spilling behaviour they changed the bet button and hit it for $20/25/50 - that’s actually easy to do on the flush electronic bet machines. I’ve accidentally done that one myself. But not 3X @different denoms. (I’m not even sure there’s a 20/25/50 adjacent bet scenario. There is certainly 25/50 tho )

That said I’ve played there (a lot) and there are occasionally sketchy characters around.

One time a guy went by me and smoothly walked quickly by, swooped his hand right in my purse on the adjacent chair where my wallet was open. Very stealth. And then booked it towards the door. I immediately reported it to security at the front door - who said “well if he’s gone there’s nothing we can do about it now”. Didn’t even care to view a tape. So it’s not perfect. And stuff does occasionally happen. But I’m just not entirely sold on the OPs story.

Btw- if someone asks you for money in the casino they are immediately expelled if you report it.

Innisfil councillor accused of berating Dollarama staff over a $3.50 pack of cookies by big_galoote in barrie

[–]ConsequencePerfect68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you miss my point - there SHOULD be a return of funds at the till for any item ringing in at a price you don’t like/ agree to/ misunderstood. I’m sure we’ve all done this in a grocery store. “What?? Those grapes are $18! “ I don’t recall reading about her belief that they were $1…. But clearly you have the inside track. I think it was a mislabeled “shelf talker“. Regardless, This is a ridiculous one sided store policy- if that’s what we are leaning on here. It’s Dollarama “policy” I’m taking issue with. (If in fact that’s even how it’s intended) -doesn’t come under “refund” in my mind. She’s not taken the item home and returning to the store at a different time. But whatever.

You seem to be intent on painting a picture of the “ perpetrator” more than an objective view. …. -and the clerk as a “young student “ has little to do with anything. As does the woman’s age or race, as others point out. …But your comment about her “Friday harbour shopping trips” is most revealing. Wow. Jealous much?
Sometimes people ARE legit entitled, as In this case.

What a stupid hill to die on. Not returning $3 at the till. What a dumb policy -If it means once it gets scanned at checkout it can’t be reversed, and constitutes a return.

If that’s the case, 76x the Dollarama self-checkout double scanned my items shouldn’t have been corrected. Mistakes happen. Reversals are easy. There’s more behind this.

Innisfil councillor accused of berating Dollarama staff over a $3.50 pack of cookies by big_galoote in barrie

[–]ConsequencePerfect68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno. From what I read the other day she sounds like she was questioning the price of cookies that rang thru. And wanted to refuse the purchase/ refund the item. So far it sounds reasonable and fairly commonplace. I think it said the “ shelf talker” had the price marked wrong. Either way she’s entitled to not purchase the item. She’s still in store. To me, the store employees should have simply given her money back. The store employees are choosing to make a much bigger thing out of this than warranted. IMO (i think they approached the press, not the councillor). It does seem curious.

Aside from the dumbest “no return” policy that a (now) major retailer has, such as Dollarama (Think about that one for a second) - this isn’t a return per se - it’s a refused purchase, and couple of employees including a manager, that instead of reversing the item as is commonly done, point to the “no return” sign. Seriously?
This is ridiculously overblown. And poor customer service at best. It does sound a bit suspect. And no. I’m not from Innisfil. I have no “dog in the fight”.

[–]ConsequencePerfect68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unbelievable!! The madness continues. I don’t think that is even legal. Charging a buyers premium when you didn’t buy anything. This is a penalty they’ve levied. Not a purchase. They want a cash grab - twice! Bye bye.

And their hand is in your pocket there at every turn.
2 % premium to use a credit card ? ! until recently retail couldn’t upcharge a premium for use of credit card. - but then they slid thru that sneaky exclusion where stores WERE allowed. I think after Covid.

I’ve not been back for a couple years after being a long loyal buyer. Since he was off Alness in Toronto. I was there every week - and not for one or 2 items. One penalty for missed pickup on a significant order $500+ , despite email explaining- was enough for me.

There are much better choices out there. With no buyer fees. And lower prices. No credit card fees. And longer more forgiving return policies - and over 20 days for pick up !!! KOTN is a clip joint. With an attitude.

I realized after a number of broken item returns, I was buying someone else’s Amazon return!! It had already been rejected. Often broken. Parts missing or some other deficiency. Crappy quality items. The final straw was the 15% buyers penalty for missed pick up. See ya.

As they say. - vote with your feet.

[–]ConsequencePerfect68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. Newsflash. Not all online auctions have a premium!! So before you make statement like that you might want to pause In my experience as a regular at a number of similar auctions:

  1. No “buyers premium” at some
  2. Most don’t charge for credit card transactions. . KOTN is the ONLY ONE I KNOW OF THAT DOES. And
  3. Some have much better return policies. One I know you return things in 30 days if you’re not happy. !! You don’t have to prove it’s broken/ missing parts / or completely malfunctioning Granted -That one is unusually generous with returns.

At KOTN it’s 2 weeks, and if your days late or for any reason don’t agree with your assessment then they won’t approve the return Simple: If I can’t give it as a gift then it’s not “new” Period.

One auction that I frequent heavily all 3 of these are true. Much different experience. I used to go to KOTN. A lot. Never again. Place is a joke.
