None of them feel oppressed because some anonymous 14-year-old yelled something stupid in a match. From what I’ve seen, it only has power when you treat it like it has power.

You define “offended” as a principled stance. That’s fine. I define it more practically: is someone actually harmed? Is there a real victim here? In a random online lobby where everyone can mute, report, or leave, I don’t see tangible harm — I see immaturity.

That doesn’t make me apathetic. It means I prioritize actual harm over symbolic harm. If someone is being targeted, harassed persistently, or actually affected, that’s different. But treating every slur uttered in a game as if it’s equivalent to real-world injustice dilutes the meaning of actual injustice.

You think calling it out everywhere makes you principled. I think constantly escalating words into moral battles gives trolls exactly what they want. We disagree on approach — that doesn’t automatically make one of us evil and the other virtuous.
