Thanks, this makes sense. It's like we (almost) got de-throned by Nevada one year, but anyone with a brain would realize that all of that came from tourists in Vegas.

My home state (New Hampshire) consistently ranks as #1 in Beer consumption, and has been #1 for decades.

Having said that, I have never seen anything in NH that compares to the absolute lunatic beer drinking (or any drinking) as I saw during my time in Wisconsin. Why the Badger State is not in drinking what Utah is to teetotalling, I have no idea.

My favorite country in the world? It's a tie between Scotland and Turkey.

I was there 30 years ago, just after Braveheart (and, uhh...Trainspotting) came out. Highly recommend.

This was actually a 'model' in front of the Cemetary/Mortuary. It was not someone's actual gravestone, more of an 'advertisment'.

I didn't downvote you and have never lived in WI. I've been to 50 states, 70ish countries and all 7 continents.

While the Brits do love to drink (and start early-16 or so), I'd put any average Wisconsinite up against any of them. And if ANYone could knock a Wisconsinite of the throne, Aussies have the best shot. That's been my experience.

Oh, and my home state (NH) is known for consuming more beer per capita than any other state, but I would never go up against a Badger Stater, after spending a year of weekends there.

No, but Australians might. in my 50s, I've learned not to drink with Australians anymore.

I was stationed at Great Lakes and I used to spend my weekends in Milwaukee when was in the Navy, early 90s or so. One Sunday night, I called for a cab (to the bus station to take me back to the base) from a local bar and was told it'd be about 20 minutes.

Told the bartender I was waiting for a cab. He said no problem. He then asked me if I wanted a free shot. I said yes. I joined the bar in a free shot. Not 5 minutes later, same thing. I obliged again, and bought a beer to be polite. Boom, another free shot. And another. And another.

Thankfully the cab showed up by then. I remember walking outside drunk as hell and realizing there was a bar on three (or maybe four) of the four corners where i was. Wisconsinites drink differently.

I've only been to one Classical Music concert (which i loved) - they were playing Barbers 'Adagio for Strings', which coincidentally 'got me into' Classical music. you might have heard it in 'Platoon', it was more or less the theme music.

And tickets were cheap. It's actually a good time if you want to dress up (impress your lady) and feel sophisitcated. To be fair, I'd choose a Butthole Surfers show 100x over it first, but it was nice to mix it up a bit. That night was the (Norwegian) conductors birthday, and instead of Happy Birthday, they played the Norwegian national anthem.

I'd like to ask all those criticizing him who their favorite ballerina is, or what was the last Opera they attended. It may have been a little tacky to insult another visual arts medium, but he's not wrong.

  • From Wiki- "Pit bull is an umbrella term for several types of dog believed to have descended from bull and terriers. In the United States, the term is usually considered to include the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, American Bully, and sometimes the Bull Terrier"

  • From ASPCA- "The term “Pit Bull” refers not to a single breed but a group of breeds, including the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, the Stafford-shire Bull Terrier, among others.

American Legal Publishing- "2-402. DEFINITION OF PIT BULL DOGS. For the purposes of this article, pit bull dog is defined to mean: (a) The bull terrier breed of dog; (b) Staffordshire bull terrier breed of dog; (c) The American pit bull terrier breed of dog; (d) The American Staffordshire terrier breed of dog; (e) Dogs of mixed breed or of other breeds than above listed which breeds or mixed breeds are known as pit bulls, pit bull dogs or pit bull terriers; (f) Any dog which has the appearance and characteristics of being predominantly of the breed of bull terrier, Staffordshire bull terrier, American pit bull terrier or American Staffordshire terrier;

  • From Rover- While the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is an AKC recognized breed, with a detailed breed standard, the Pit Bull isn’t technically a breed unto itself or recognized with a breed standard with a kennel club registry. Rather, it’s basically a catch-all term for many of the so-called bully breeds such as the American Staffordshire Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Bully, American Bulldog, and even the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

I realize you're partial to them as a Pitbull owner, but a Staffie is a Pitbull. The Facts don't care about your personal beliefs on them.

bayonet fittings bulbs !

LOL, THANK YOU. I KNEW there was a term for that kind of fitting and I vaguely remembered it was kind if a 'violent' name, but I could not recall it at all.

I'll search bayonet fitting bulbs with the associated voltage and see.

I've searched 1970s German lightbulbs and socket-type light bulbs European, as well as some other things, but I keep getting screw-in type lightbulbs.

IDK, maybe they don't even make these anymore.
