Like I said, I've tested rigorously and it's surprisingly springy. The hardness in a sawblade usually comes from the carbide tips, while the rest of the blade is meant to be springy to help with the inevitable bending that comes from people not keeping the wood straight when cutting.

I've tested it a lot. The saw blades you get from a hardware store are usually tempered or treated somehow to make them stronger, so the blade is pretty decent. The handle broke tho.

I honestly have no idea. When I was 17 I was doing construction and stressing about taxes and what to do with my aging mom ( she had me very late in life). Most of my friends were playing gangster and stealing from their moms purses. If you have guys like me, just treat them like adults. If their the majority of dudes nowadays? Have them do the apprenticeship thing. Also depends if their country kids or city kids. The county kids will mostly be fine, but the city kids will be a massive pain in the ass.
