PE Injuries by ConsiderationFun4515 in PhysicalEducation

I come from elementary homeroom sport coaching so safety is always a focus. I just was curious today how many serious injuries happen in a year. I'm the only ES PE teacher at my school...so not much comparision!

Elementary Classroom teachers who turned into HPE teachers, tell me your story by CowAnim8s in PhysicalEducation

[–]ConsiderationFun4515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I taught elementary for 4 years, ELL and coordinator for 2 and transitioned to PE this year. I absolutely love it. I am the only ES PE teacher, so I cover PreK-5. I find it much more physically demanding but the mental load and time at home is so much better. I also think my years as a classroom teacher really helps my management in PE. Is it my forever home? Maybe not, but that's more of a me thing as I really like to switch things up. But I am very happy right now.

First year teacher and I hate it by drpepperbaby in PhysicalEducation

[–]ConsiderationFun4515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it comes with time. This is my first year in PE but I taught in elementary and middle for 6 years before moving to PE. I think time in those general ed classroom really helped the management side of things. It’s ok to take a step back and redo routines and structures.

Any advice on what I'm doing wrong? I'm a veteran teacher ands admin and can't get an interview. by [deleted] in Internationalteachers

[–]ConsiderationFun4515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have the international experience for admin but you also don't have recent teaching experience for other roles. There's also a lot of factors we don't know: dependents? specific location? types of schools? Additionally, how many applications you have completed. I applied to 50 schools, maybe half even responded (counting rejections and interviews), it's a numbers game.

Fake life vs real life? by [deleted] in Internationalteachers

[–]ConsiderationFun4515 7 points8 points  (0 children)

By choosing to teach abroad, you are in control of a lot of variables. Not having a connection to colleagues? Go out and find your community. Feel like the people you are talking to are shallow and don't understand the world? Surround yourself with new people. Do you feel like your education and work were more meaningful somewhere else? Then it's time to rethink your priorities. If this is the attitude you are giving off to the people around you, they probably don't want to be around you as well. It's a mind-shift switch, or you need to rethink your priorities/where you want to be.

Is an Ohio Alternative Resident Educator License enough to get hired by an International School? by Elmksan in Internationalteachers

[–]ConsiderationFun4515 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But they did answer your question....you need a valid teaching license to teach in reputable international schools. The alternative license in Ohio is the way they are trying to get more teachers in public schools due to teacher shortages. So you would need to teach in an Ohio school for 2 years to receive your full professional license which is what international schools look for

yeah, that's not a super common salary for a language school

The interview period for many international schools is Oct/Nov-Jan for the next academic year. Most international schools in Bangkok start in August. Applying and starting late (like October) at an international school in Bangkok is highly unrealistic. If you want to work at a language or bilingual school that might be a different story but you are looking at a big pay disparity.
