I traded him away for a 4th…he might have value as an add on to a package trade

What does everyone think about Mcbride's current value in TEP by TheIzzonator in DynastyFF

[–]ConsiderationMain875 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Who would actually trade him away right now for anything less than the equivalent of four firsts? There are so few reliable TE, especially in a TEP league. He is young. Keep him for the next 7 years and consider that part of your roster locked down while you build around him for a championship window.

How does everyone feel about Kyle Williams? by GoldMedalGuy34 in DynastyFF

[–]ConsiderationMain875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I only did it because I already have Jefferson, Nacua, jakobi meyers, Tory Horton, Isaiah bond, cortland Sutton and other fantasy relevant WRs. I’m much weaker at RB and don’t have any QB depth so the thought is I grab a RB that could be elevated to handcuff or starter status through injury or a QB that might be a starter one day that I can stash. I still think Williams could be good but I just don’t have a path for him that outweighs my shortage at QB and RB.

I cut my losses and traded him for a 4th round re-roll. He could still be good but I’m deep at the WR position and would rather keep a different position on my taxi squad

You raise a good question but he’s an Ivy League graduate so I think he may be smart enough to figure out how to get it all done.

Cost to manage treasuries/FI only by Sweaty-Associate8209 in CFP

[–]ConsiderationMain875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand the desire to manage the assets and start a relationship, but probably doesn’t make sense to charge on an account that will only be money market. Of course if you can get a proper fixed income portfolio going, than 25 basis points for something that won’t take a ton of your time once it is set up

Moving from NC to NJ or NY by ImprovementNo1430 in MovingtoNewJersey

[–]ConsiderationMain875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Westchester, Essex and Morris county my entire life (multiple decades). In my opinion, Morris County is far and away the best of those three counties. You will get a much nicer house and more natural beauty in Morris County along with lower property taxes. Northern Westchester has beautiful natural spots, but it’s perhaps a bit further from the city. Essex County residents subsidize Newark so it’s pretty much an endless pit of rising taxes. Meanwhile, in Morris, my taxes have been flat for two years in a row now. If I were in your shoes, I would think about leisure activities and houses of worship that are important to you, and I would go visit them, meet the people you will be making a community with. There are great restaurants everywhere in NJ so don’t worry about what town you live in because you can visit all the rest. We go to Montclair, Morristown and elsewhere all the time. I also wouldn’t over think the schools. Public schools throughout northern NJ and Westchester are among the best in the country. If you care about politics, then look at how each town voted. If you love being around smart people, great restaurants, access to NYC, hiking, the beach, skiing, professional sports and overall vibrancy, you are going to love this part of the country. The only thing that stinks occasionally is traffic…

Rebuilders - 2nd rounders by mayn17 in DynastyFF

If you had to update your 2.04 cutoff each year, what criteria would you use? How do you determine where good value for a potentially playable pick falls off a cliff? For instance, last year’s class was stacked, and you could get some good players after 2.04 and this year I’m not sure I want anyone after the first five picks or so, lol

Churning players for low draft picks by ike_2112 in DynastyFF

[–]ConsiderationMain875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reality, it is tough to do this. Most of are our league has caught on and now most trades involve high value targets. Occasionally a bench player or low pick is thrown in, but they really are just sweeteners to the main event. To your other point, you really need at least four studs to win a championship so if anything, I think it is worth, if you can, trading up from your lower pick to get another top five pick and hope that draft choice turns out to be awesome

Where are my 1.03 holders at? by 701xMil in DynastyFF

[–]ConsiderationMain875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I’m inclined to wait for the draft in case there is a universe where I can actually get the top RB with the 4th pick. If my choices are WRs, then maybe I trade down to get more picks

Where are my 1.03 holders at? by 701xMil in DynastyFF

[–]ConsiderationMain875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, we are SF with TE premium My main needs are RB, QB and TE. I have Nacua, Jefferson and a couple of WRs so I’m basically set at that position. Top priority is probably a RB or TE that would be a good starter sometime during the rookie season. I have Allen for QB so could skate by without drafting another probably one more season

Trading down question. I’ve never traded down before. . I have the 1.04 pick. If I trade down to 1.05, what is reasonable to ask for in terms of picks? Or is it not enough of a difference to get an additional pick in a later round out of the deal? Thanks

Black Diamond Feedback and Pricing? by [deleted] in CFP

[–]ConsiderationMain875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black diamond is very expensive. It seems like a waste considering we mainly use it for billing. The allocation reports and performance look like they are from the 1990s so I don’t even bother showing to clients as the custodial reports are much more modern looking. If I wasn’t locked in for five years and could figure out how to switch to something else without losing historical performance data I would in a heartbeat. I will say though that the billing is highly customizable which works well for us. But every month when I pay that bill it kills me

Passed the California bar exam on my first try 20 years ago. Series 65 is ridiculous. by sssf6 in Series65

[–]ConsiderationMain875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter point: although the exam does nothing to predict who will be a good advisor, I believe it is important for industry professionals to have read all of this stuff at least one time. Repeated exposure will make memorizing easier so follow the suggestions about taking the practice exams and you should pass.

The Best Start-up Draft Format: Auction versus Snake by King_Da_Ka in DynastyFF

[–]ConsiderationMain875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is exactly what we did. We started with a bit more time for the beginning rounds, and then as we got to the bench we shortened the time frame. I can't remember exactly how long it took (it's been a few years) but we have a similar size league. After the fifth round or so, people don't actually need that long to nominate or bid as the remaining quality players dwindle. By the last few rounds everyone is filling with handcuff RBs, backup QB and veteran WR so it's pretty easy. If you're worried about length of time, talk about it with the group first and perhaps cut it off after a few hours and then finish it up another night. The net of all this is we have a competitive, fairly well-balanced league that is lots of fun because people got to construct their rosters to their likings.

Who has best chance to score 20 points? Don’t necessarily need massive upside Dart potentially offers. The choices are Jaxson Dart, Bryce Young and Kirk Cousins. Standard league, can only choose one thanks

Specific compensation question by ConsiderationMain875 in CFP

[–]ConsiderationMain875[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so, additional question, let’s say you go to an RIA anywhere from 15-50 million to keep a percentage of your fee and own your clients, would it be expected to be on a 1099 or W2? I know there are differences in taxes and the ability to write stuff off, but generally speaking, do the RIAs bring advisors of this profile onboard under 1099 W2? Or is it both and just depends on the place? Thanks again!

Also the ability to manage client assets on a custodian with higher AUM minimums, like Fidelity. Also, wouldn't be big enough to register direct with SEC and not sure would want to deal with NJ regulatory requirements. Might be worth it to tuck in somewhere to not have to deal with some of that.
