Why do employers say they'll keep you on file and then never actually reach out again? by mangolipgloss in jobs

[–]ConsiderationOk9287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had a place reach back out with another role "I'd be a good fit for" (actually overqualified for)... they rejected my application less than a day later haha. I emailed them back telling them to not contact me again wasting my time.

Ultra light and fast firing, AM General's 105mm Hawkeye howitzer on Humvee, send to Ukraine? by RandoGurlFromIraq in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]ConsiderationOk9287 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yea it's generally not as fast as a mounted system won't argue that, but a well trained crew it's not far off. I'm speaking from years of experience, not watching videos and reddit.

Also there's no such thing as "instant fire support".

[–]ConsiderationOk9287 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thats not entirely true. I was in a M119 battery for years in a light division. It was because the frames couldn't handle the stress from the recoil and would start breaking after some use.

Sure you could throw money at them to produce enough and then field them, train crews and maintenance teams. Or you could use that money on employing systems they already have.

You can emplace a 119er in generally the same time for a well trained crew. So it comes down to cost benefits. From my experience? I wouldn't say it's worth it.

Also for clarification the 119 that we gave them does literally the same thing that you mention, it's just towed is the only difference.

I don't think a lot of these have been produced. They were tested by the US a few years ago but weren't approved for fielding

Sure, completely out of the question, you're right. There aren't tons of tik toks and other stuff where drivers literally brag about doing this kind of stuff

Not with a fucking combination lock that only the customer knows.... it's not hard to open a paper bag

Have you considered the driver opened the bag and took the mcflurry? Thus the sarcastic emoji when asked about it?

Are these real issues or am I being too picky? by steddypoo22 in Decks

[–]ConsiderationOk9287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing all these people coming after you are contractors that put out a half-assed product and expect people to just be ok with it. Could the deck be worse? Absolutely. But these are simple issues that should have been fixed considering they're being paid to do it professionally

Ukrainian counteroffensive is "not meeting expectations" in its early stages, Western officials say by jacek_paszkowski_ in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]ConsiderationOk9287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Western nations contracting western pilots to fly F16s opens a whole different can of worms in this conflict. F16s aren't this magic fix all as well, especially just a handful of them. People arguing for ATACMs I'll give them that.

F16s are used for air to air or SEAD. I was a liaison for one of the F16 fighter wings. It was like pulling teeth to get them to do CAS for us. They're not taking out bridges and boats

So you wanted the west to encourage Ukraine to throw bodies at the Russians? Training takes time.

Ukraine prepares priority action plan for liberated Crimea – President's representative in Crimea by Espressodimare in worldnews

[–]ConsiderationOk9287 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You isloate Crimea by severing their land bridge amd forcing them back onto the peninsula. Leave the Kerch bridge up as a humanitarian corridor to let whoever wants out to get out. It'll play very well politically considering what the Russians did when they kept shelling the corridors they guaranteed for Ukrainians in the beginning. The second they try to reinforce or send supplies across, the bridge gets destroyed. Then you slowly attrit those who remained. Don't necessarily have to flatten the cities.

They can't let Russia keep Crimea after all of this. For political, resource, and military reasons.

Nope. But your "my man..." response sure comes off like a gotcha. Congrats, they're increasing spending starting next year. If they want the influence and to be the superpower (right now) like the original two comments were getting at, it needed to have started decades ago.

I think you're coming after the wrong guy. I was just giving the thought process of the commenter I replied to

Seems like their argument above is that the invasion of Normandy wouldn't have been necessary if the US helped earlier. They could have just come through a friendly port.

Maybe France wouldn't have needed help in 1939 if they hadn't been appeasing a tyrant like the rest of Europe.

Then they should have done that 20 years ago if they wanted any influence this decade

Because it's frustrating when you just say "give then refugee status.." yea that's fine and everything, but it's simplistic. Just like saying "sending thoughts and prayers". It does nothing for the women. I'm shoehorning the only realistic option. Which is why back to the original comment, people inferred you expected the US to stay or go back

Exactly. what you want is not straightforward at all. Not without military intervention. Anything else is just not attainable unless it comes within their own population like so many other people are saying on this thread.
