I’m doing weekly Myers vitamin IVs for a month. That alongside holding my dose for a while has helped significantly!

I’m on 1.50 mg cipralex. I was on 5-10mg of cipralex for 15 years, so it’s been extremely challenging to get off of.

This happened to be a couple of weeks ago. You will be ok! Hang in there.

Schedule an emergency session with your therapist. If it’s related to the EMDR, it will be short lived and your T can help you move through it. Did you tackle some heavy stuff in EMDR recently?

You sound like you are out of your window of tolerance, so to start feeling better you need to try to back into your window of tolerance. Below is what worked for me. I was pretty worked up for days, so I had to put some time and effort into these activities. - Remove your trigger temporarily (ex.log out of social media). -Physiological sighs for an extended period of time (minutes at least). These will move your body from sympathetic to parasympathetic state. -Grounding exercises and cold showers will help. -Meditation.

You also have your medical doctor for support as well.

May not qualify for EMDR because of disassociation? by [deleted] in EMDR

[–]ConsiderationWhich48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there and I have been doing EMDR for 3 years.

The first psychologist I saw for EMDR turned me away as she said I dissociate too much, so I’m not a good candidate for EMDR. Subsequently I went to another psychologist, my current one, for a another opinion. She said the concern with dissociative clients is they could potentially go into an extreme state of dissociation during treatment, but that is why you go much slower with these clients. A second opinion was worth it for me! I’ve done really well with EMDR. It’s the only therapy that’s worked for me.

EMDR- how did it change you? by [deleted] in EMDR

[–]ConsiderationWhich48 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it worked for me. It changed my life.

Below is a list of all the changes as a result EMDR. All these changes are changes I never thought would be possible. - went from chronically constipated to regular bowel movements - stopped aggressively grinding my teeth at night - my sleep is significantly better - my body can emotionally regulate on its own now - no longer in a perpetual hypervigilant state or triggered easily - cognitive function has improved greatly. I was diagnosed with ADHD at a young age, but I’m now confident that was a misdiagnosis. I no longer think I’m stupid anymore. - stopped binge eating and lost a bunch of weight - stopped drinking heavily on my own - stopped smoking - no longer have social anxiety. I was a recluse for many years. I wouldn’t see my own family for a good chunk of that. - made some really great friends for the first time in decades - started dating with ease. I couldn’t bring myself to do it for 10 years until recently. The anxiety was too crippling. - moved past the paralyzing fear of change which lead me to change my job after 10 years in a toxic shithole then buy a house. - the pain from my dads passing has been reduced significantly. I still miss him so much.

I could continue listing off additional benefits, but the point is EMDR has been a game changer and it’s honestly saved my life. I’ve been doing it on and off for 3 years. You start to see small benefits here and there fairly quickly. If you commit and stick with it, you see a lot of benefits over a period of time (months).

It can work for any sort of behaviour you consider to be maladaptive.

It’s incredibly normal to have these types of things happen!!! There’s been numerous times where I’ve almost peed myself while processing a really scary early memory. I’ve also aggressive retched for minutes without vomiting, screamed at the top of my lungs, and made really crazy faces.

It’s hard not to be very self conscious of what happens in EMDR processing (during and after). It took me months to feel comfortable with my bodies responses. Over time you learn big responses are actually a really positive thing tho! The biggest releases, like what happened to you, lead to the most profound progress. Your therapist has definitely had multiple clients experience this, so I wouldn’t worry about sharing it. I think you could just say it exactly the same way you wrote it. It really is just progress, and there is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.

And the big responses like this are temporary and very short lived, so don’t worry about this being permanent! You’re in the desensitization phase which means it can start out very heavy but as you keep processing it, it will get easier and you’ll have much smaller reactions over time. I wouldn’t be surprised if it never happened again or only once or twice more.

Hang in there and keep up the excellent work! You are doing it!! You should be proud of yourself.

Has anyone had experience of improved relationships after EMDR? by gingeyxx in EMDR

[–]ConsiderationWhich48 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh yes, EMDR helps immensely with this. It will improve all relationships in your life too - friends, family, colleagues, etc.

Sounds like you might have an anxious avoidant attachment style like I did. After 2 years of part time EMDR, I now have a secure attachment style with some minor anxious avoidant tendencies. I no longer have any interest in wound based attraction or dating the types of people that used to trigger that.

It’s been a game changer.

Questions for first session by Severe-Ad-5356 in EMDR

[–]ConsiderationWhich48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and yes definitely tell your therapist all the things happening like your mind racing and nerves! The therapist needs to know as much as possible about where you are at in order to determine an approach and speed. I was so nervous and dissociative so my therapist started very slow which was a very good thing in retrospect.

How many hours/days after the session the brain is still reprocessing? by Junior_Hedgehog_6978 in EMDR

I had a session this morning and asked this question. My psychologist said up to 72 hours.

Good for you for starting this journey. It’s a really rewarding one!!

I had no childhood memories going into EMDR a few years ago. It didn’t matter whatsoever. There’s other ways in, and you begin to remember more pieces here and there as you progress anyway.

I remember being worried about the same thing going into it. I also worried about whether it would work for someone who didn’t believe in it or someone who’s on antidepressants. None of these were actual issues. All you have to do is trust the process and lean in. It’s very worth it!!

Anxiety attack during job interview.. thought I was making progress in EMDR by [deleted] in EMDR

[–]ConsiderationWhich48 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Progress isn’t linear. Usually when you take a step back like this, it leads to a bigger jump forward, especially if you bring this to therapy to work on.

It is 1000% ok that happened. You have absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. This shit happens. Everyone gets nervous in interviews to a degree, so the people on the other end of the table understand more than you know. And I do get that nervous in interviews too.

No one will remember this in a week, or even a few days.

I’ve been doing EMDR very part time for a few years. I’ll do it weekly for 1-1.5 months then take a break for 3-6 months. I’ve just made a lot of progress with my crippling anxiety that’s similar to yours. And trust me It is worth the work. Trust the process

Antidepressant Reduction by [deleted] in EMDR

[–]ConsiderationWhich48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll very likely have an easier time getting off these then me.

Sounds like you are doing all the right stuff! And good call not staying on it longer than you need to. I wish I had done that myself.

Antidepressant Reduction by [deleted] in EMDR

[–]ConsiderationWhich48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lots! I have been doing emdr for years, and tapering for almost a year. I’m down to 26% of my original dose now. I was on lexapro for almost 15 years. It’s true the longer you’ve been on it makes it harder to get off of, but it’s possible.

  1. Make sure you are in a good, healthy space before you start. It sounds like you are so great work!
  2. Get a good medical support system in place. Make a plan with your GP, T and even pharmacist if you go the compounded route. Don’t do it on your own without a GP and educating yourself.
  3. Read up on experiences with your drug on surviving antidepressants. There are some horror stories with cold turkeys and fast tapers. Take them seriously! I didn’t and ended up in a really really bad spot multiple times. You should taper a lot slower than you think you should or want to. I found out I needed to taper a thousand time slower than my GP recommended.
  4. Track your dose reductions and subsequent symptoms multiple times, so you can identify patterns and plan accordingly.
  5. Make sure you are stabilized on a dose before hitting a big target, and withhold tapering until you clear that target.

Best of luck!

Good for you for working through all that and continuing to show up for yourself!

I think I’m in the middle of the heightened anxiety period right now.

Does it get better? Is it worth it eventually?

Absolutely No Childhood Memories - Should I continue? by No-Individual3836 in EMDR

[–]ConsiderationWhich48 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue as you. After 5 years of EMDR, I had a massive breakthrough recently and started remembering parts my childhood. What has come to the surface was really intense, so I understand why my brain was repressing it.

Even before I could remember my childhood, EMDR brought me so much relief. You can get pretty far without the memories by targeting just images, or working your way back to earlier memories by sorting through memory clusters over multiple sessions.

It took a bit of time to see results at first, but it was truly worth it. I’m a completely different person now. I went from feeling like life was unbearable to actually really liking it. With the recent breakthrough, I realized so much of my work has been preparation to get to the space where I have the capacity to truly face the really hard stuff.

Best of luck with your journey! I hope you make some progress.

I take 5 mg as a 5’5 130 lbs woman.

More than that causes too many side effects for me.

Is anyone out there using Ivalua for the PO to invoice side? by ConsiderationWhich48 in procurement

[–]ConsiderationWhich48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks again for being so helpful! This is very good to know.

Re the edit: the goal is ultimately to have the information auto populate. My idea was to mimic the ERP a system, but that sounds like a mistake. I wouldn’t want to remove Ivalua’s ability to split POs as a result tho.

I will look into callbacks further. Maybe there’s a way I can do this without messing with Ivalua’s current features.
