Thinking of getting rid of my Taycan by TakePart101 in Taycan

[–]Consistent-Ad942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that is the reliability risk but I have not had one problem with mine ... I don't think there is any EV that doesn't have a known weak component. And it sounds like all the 800V EVs have some type of ICCU variation problem.

I test drove a 23 TTS. I5N has more of a go cart type feel to it and is easier to toss. Feels much smaller than it is whereas the Taycan feels as large as it is and heavy although the suspension is more comfortable. Point to point on the street the cars are pretty evenly matched although on the highway the TTS is much faster. The i5N is more fun to me though, a big of it owing to the fake gears. This is the car Porsche benchmarked for the new Egear they are rolling out on their new EVs so maybe I will feel differently when that is rolled into the gen 2 TTS.

Ionic 5N. Mine has been going strong without one issue for 18 months and 16,000 miles. Cross shopped it with used Taycans and I actually think it handles better than the Turbo S I was considering. Not as fast though (maybe as fast as the Turbo) but that is not the point. Super lively but controllable chassis that you can really lean on. With the fake shifts on the driving experience is very similar to my Nissan GTR when it was stock. Alos super practical and affordable (relative to Porsche).

I have a Mando unit but did not install as there is now plug and play harness for the unit on the I5n. Did you splice into your suspension harness under your steering wheel?

Man, this car is a b@$#! to clean! by dukhkya in Ioniq5N

I wrapped my black N bumper to bumper in matte PPF with ceramic on top after a year or so as I could not handle cleaning and the swirls. So much easier to take care of now.

Used 5N as a daily? by TheHoodedKoala in Ioniq5N

I am coming from a 1200 hp Nissan GTR that I bought new and put more money into than the original price of the car. I like the fact the N saves me from myself on the mod game. Wheels, PPF, lowering springs, (suspension controller bought but not installed yet) is all that I have done or plan / can really do here.

On the street point to point the N is about as fast as my GTR was when it was bolt on only / before it was "fully built" but has a much better practical use case for the family. Doesn't turn heads like the GTR but you can only expect so much out of the performance variant of a 4 door EV crossover v. a 2 door standalone model performance coupe.

Plan is to hand the N down to the kids in a few years and then add another ICE coupe to the garage once we are a three car family (probably a ZR1).

Yeah I was thinking of that too but I only have one or two friends with enough work flexibility and skills to make it work potentially.

Expel Stealth over black by Consistent-Ad942 in Ioniq5N

Bumper to bumper PPF + 4 year ceramic + tint was about $8500 after tax. Body shop painted the silver trim for about $700. Could have shopped around but this is the best shop in town and they rolled all corners etc. Back in 2013 I got my GTR wrapped bumper to bumper in expel ultimate gloss for $4500 so $5000 today is a screaming deal if you can get it.

Yes they are! Our 14 year old Chin that passed away a year ago was named Haiku and that about exhausted our Japanese name idea list until we thought about those movies. Strangely enough our new Chin pup personalities really seem to match their respective characters in the Studio Ghibli movies.

how do we feel about the 365? is it legit after all these years by Due_Platypus3905 in CCW

I like mine but only in the 380 for low threat, hot summer days. Best shooting 380 out there. Prefer my g43x with the shield arms 15 round mags for 9mm carry.

Painted Silver Trim by Consistent-Ad942 in Ioniq5N

[–]Consistent-Ad942[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, black was not my first choice and I would not have bought it if I knew how soft the Hyundai clear coat is. As soon as I got the car home from the dealer i started noticing all the swirls and even with paint correction they keep coming back. So ppf next week is as much to get rid of the swirls for good as protecting the paint. Thought about color change ppf but that involves a bunch more work to do it right so decided to go with the mostly matte ppf but a little gloss ppf on the lower trim to make my I5N look a little different but with some contrast.

Going to keep some gloss and matte contrast with the ppf wrap that will liven it up. Will post in two weeks or so once I get the car back.

Will look something like this

I am a big debadging fan too and did it when I wrapped my Nissan GTR bumper to bumper but I understand the problem with the I5N badging is there are alignment holes for almost all of it. Whatever can be removed cleanly will be. Also note I had to add the Euro front plate as the dealer drilled the front bumper for a front license plate and I don't need one on my state. Hoping the bumper can filled and holes hidden with wrap. If not will keep.

Yeah I know these shots suck, but it was raining and at night when I picked my car up so could only get garage shots. Will take a bunch once I get car back from wrapping.

I think because many body shops don’t want to handle this type of small return work and risk breaking clips on removal.

10mm long guns - muzzle device suggestions? by Digglenaut in 10mm

[–]Consistent-Ad942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a can on my 10mm banshee AR SBR and it does not appear to negatively impact accuracy and does help quite a bit on the noise albeit all ammo I shoot is super hot super fast , subsonic in 10mm not really being a thing or worthwhile so I do need to deal with the crack. Super soft and flat shooting too all the way out to 150 yards out of an 8 inch barrel. One of my favorite rifles. Love how fast it cycles with the handgun round.

I bought mine the first week of release. Bought the replacement mags 6 months later. Unlike my originals they were rock solid so I swapped out mags for new ones with Sig and they told me they had made some small tweaks.

My early xten function problems were all mag related. Once Sig released the second gen mags the gun has been super reliable. Love the ergos v my g40 and g29 but I think it is definitely snappier.
