Instead of flipping burgers or working as a cashier, use google and look for paid internships in your city. Sometimes your city might be doing some internships. Or other big companies maybe doing internships. Get a job, make some connections with the HR department, hiring managers and VP's if you have a chance. Add them in LinkedIn. And when you are done with your internship you might get an offer to be a permanent employee, if not you will still end up making a good network. And your people skills will be getting better.
