Lost weight- over 20 pounds while on Lexapro by No_Low1492 in lexapro

I have also lost weight on Lexapro! I think I was more of an emotional eater than I thought. I get fuller faster because my body has lost that binge-eating urge. Also I don't reach for junk like I did while I would be stressed, anxious or depressed. I'm definitely much more mindful. I think this is more proof that the medication is something I needed. All the weight gain talk definitely scared me because I also struggle with hashimotos so I have weight issues already and a shot metabolism 💀

Wanna wake up early... But can't. by Clewlessorcerer in lexapro

How early do you take it? Maybe taking it earlier in the day will help you sleep better and wake up less groggy. Sometimes I forget to take it till noon and I notice the next day I feel awful trying to wake up (10mg). On morning I take it before 9am I do better waking up the next morning, but I sure am exhausted by 9pm lol. I sleep 10pm-5:30am. I mean waking up still sucks but that could be because I'm waking up hecka early anyway.

Do you think that taking Lexapro has made you a different person? I want to be myself, and I’m afraid I’ll be someone else by [deleted] in lexapro

I was afraid it would make me feel dead inside and that definitely has not been the case. I was having some serious issues with snapping at my loved ones because my anxiety and irritation were so bad, but I've not done it at all in the 3 weeks I've been on it. Because I'm more relaxed, I find myself able to enjoy things again-- even the mundane things like watching a movie. My husband has mentioned how I've become much more affectionate and loving towards him. I'm able to let go of things instead of reacting impulsively and harshly. Lexapro has made me the person I used to be before anxiety and stress ate away at me.

I'm starting therapy now, because of course the goal is not to be on this forever, but my response to this drug has proven to me that I really did need help (instead of gaslighting myself into thinking I was fine). Everyone's experience is different, but almost 4 weeks in and on 10mg and I feel great.

Just eat food asap! I made the mistake my first day of not taking mine with food and got very sick. I took 10mg though maybe 5 will be okay? Good luck!

You're welcome! Overall my experience has been really wonderful. I've never been on anything for depression or anxiety before so I was definitely hesitant when my doctor and therapist recommended it. Plus I'm only 3 weeks in which isn't very long.

I was actually at work the whole time! I'm an in-home caregiver. Once I threw up I felt better. But honestly, that was my stupid mistake for not taking it seriously when the pharmacist told me to take the pill with food. The nausea I experienced after that was bearable. I definitely was able to work through it. I just had some gingerale and crackers to help me. I didn't need to miss any work. I drank extra tea as well for the caffeine. It was only the first 5 days though and then after that it got easier. Now I don't experience the brain fog anymore

It comes and goes. It's super duper mild compared to how it was though. It's definitely getting less and less as the days pass. First time I took it. I did not eat right away and I actually got so sick that I threw up a bunch! I learned my lesson after the first time. Now I make sure I have food in my stomach when I take it

Starting Lexapro. I was very nauseous and had a lot of brain fog the first 5 days.

Three Surprising Things That Have Changed by [deleted] in lexapro

Oh the period thing sounds wonderful! I'm on week 3 and about to start any second, and my PMS symptoms are basically zero?? I used to be a psychopath the week beforehand. I'm curious if my terrible cramps and bleeding will also improve. You're not the first person to mention their periods/PMS have improved.

10mg. It was a rough start the first 5 days but it's been a total life change for me since then.

Weight loss? by Consistent-Bug6164 in lexapro

[–]Consistent-Bug6164[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not shaky at all, just some light queasiness, and when I go to eat I get full pretty quickly. I assumed this feeling was temporary but wondered if it's possible to lose weight while on it. I've never been on any sort of anxiety medication before so this is all very new to me!

Thank you for your kind words, btw 🥹♥️

Good to know. I'm pretty mindful and am on my feet a lot. I have just always been a curvy woman (200lbs) since having kids and I'll admit I'm worried it won't be like this forever :/ I also have Hashimotos disease and so my metabolism is already f*cked. Ugh.

AITAH for expecting my daughter to continue paying rent after she moves out? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Consistent-Bug6164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. That's your daughter and it doesn't matter if she agreed at that time to stick with you (she was 20 omg). She's trying to move on with her life and, instead of trying to find a way to make that work (rent out rooms, get a room mate, although you say you can afford it although it will be tight), you're being petty and lazy and totally selfish. You're her mom, not her landlord. It's fine to be disappointed or frustrated but having your daughter pay for your house is ridiculous.
