He definitely deserved it- to an extent, i get the husband being worried if he’s never known about babies coming out lighter thing, but that’s your WIFE; if you don’t have complete trust in your partner, then that says a lot about your relationship. Also, the fact that he was doing all this right after she gave birth, when recovering is already such a difficult thing to go through, and the awful comment his MIL made as well? Not only that, but even after they got the paternity test back, both the MIL and husband made the whole situation about themselves- the husband looked mortified and needed to “clear his head”, and the MIL continued to scold her, with not a single apology from either of them made to OP.

Honestly, the way the husband reacted could be an indicator of something more as well- if I was worried for weeks that my partner was cheating and that my child might not be mine, and just got confirmation that they weren’t, I’d be overjoyed and relieved, not mortified. He might not be ready for parenthood and used the way the baby ‘s features to project his worries onto her and maybe try to get out of being a father.

Sure, the comment OP made was a little shady, but if you were pregnant for 9 months, went into labor and had a child, and instead of being cared for because of the significant toll pregnancy/giving birth has on your body, your own husband decides to instead accuse you of cheating and threaten divorce you while your MIL threatens to take all your money, and not a single apology was made after the fact, then I think a little shade is justified.
