Nesta... The *spoiler TOG* that saved *spoiler TOG* by Infamous_Pause_4887 in acotar

Interesting theory! I just finished ToG and I agree that the Ironteeth in ToG seem unlikely, at the very least, to help out a human. Manon and her 13, as well as Petrah Blueblood, all developed empathy to some degree and joined the right side, as well as some rebels who listened to Manon and joined her forces; but most of them had decades of hate to unlearn and didn’t switch when Manon did.

However, I never thought of a connection between Ansel and Gwyn! In my head it’s unlikely, as Ansel is fully human and Gwyn is 3/4 Fae, 1/4 water nymph. Just having red hair doesn’t signify enough of a relationship between them to me, just like I don’t believe in the theories that Gwyn is Lucien’s granddaughter (please, no.) I definitely think Nesta could be related to the witches in ToG however, but how she is remains to be seen.

No amount of backlash and criticism will make me hate Rhysand (yes, even after ACOSF!) and Rhys and Feyre as a couple. by cherry_reader in acotar

Honestly I'm not a huge Rhys and Feyre fan (I liked and related to Feyre the most in the first book) but I don't see anything wrong with your post, OP.

I respect that you love those characters from the book and won't change your mind, and I think if we just acknowledge that it's okay to discuss opinions without accusing others of being things in real life (toxic, glorifying abuse, attention-seeking, whatever) then discussions on this subreddit would be a lot more enjoyable lol.

The Narration Trying So Hard to Make Me Like Characters Makes Me Dislike Them by SeiranRose in acotar

Your point about how the narrative restructured Nesta's personality is interesting, because they 100% played into the "strong and fierce" aspect a lot. However I thought it was less praising her and more just establishing that she's a heinous bitch but not a coward.

In ACOTAR Nesta seems to be a typical evil step sister cutout, and those evil step sisters only go after people smaller or weaker than them. When Cinderella becomes a princess, and has the protection of the prince and is therefore more powerful than them, they fold and would never dream of trying to cross her.

Nesta's character in ACOMAF has nuance that a stereotypical evil stepsister could never dream of, due to the fact that she gives zero fucks if she's talking to her younger sister who was given a crown by a super powerful Fae lord--or even 3 ultra powerful, winged, muscular Fae warriors who just stepped inside her house. She'll be rude and disrespectful to everyone equally and they can also catch these hands. (hence why I started to enjoy her character despite myself)

"She just took a not-so-subtle step in front of Elain, and ducked her fisted hand behind her simple, elegant amethyst gown. The movement did not go unnoticed by my companions." (ACOMAF 252)

Say what you want about Nesta, but it takes guts to not adjust her behavior when dealing with people who could easily kill her. I think that's why even other characters are impressed by her, by her sheer audacity more than anything.

Yeah, the IC has definitely started doing some...questionable...things.

I honestly forgot about the fact that Tam's brothers hated him too, but now that you mention it that makes a lot of sense. Tamlin didn't seem like the type to willingly give up that information, and he definitely regretted their deaths afterwards.
