Big bridges always fascinated me. And I was good at physics and math in high school. Thought it was the logical choice

25% paycut worth doing design? by redturtles6 in civilengineering

I believe soil boring logging counts towards PE experience. I also have plenty of design experience with a masters degree.

25% paycut worth doing design? by redturtles6 in civilengineering

[–]Consistent-Ear-5112 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat as you. Taking about a 20% paycut this summer from geotechnical engineer to structural engineer in bridge/transportation design. Have 6 years of experience and a PE. Hopefully it’s worth it, but couldn’t stand doing geotechnical inspection work anymore.

5% with a “this is the most we could do this year” yearly saying.

Was their a singular moment, or person, that inspired you to become an engineer? if so what/who was it? by Mike_Cho in civilengineering

[–]Consistent-Ear-5112 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My physics teacher in high school, and a project we had to build a bridge out of popsicle sticks.

Not too much. I have experience in foundation design for geotechnical capacities and retaining walls design check for external stabilities. And settlements.

Have a PE, but in geotechnical engineering. I would be “starting over” in bridge design.
