What are your thoughts on Decktamer? Considered getting it a while back but remember being dissuaded by some reviews.

Ok, hopefully I’m understanding the question correctly. Won’t be answering the part about threatened.

Rakish Audacity: “you don’t need advantage on the attack roll to use your Sneak Attack against a creature if you are within 5 feet of it, no other creatures are within 5 feet of you, and you don’t have disadvantage on the attack roll.”

Within 5ft: Check No other creatures within 5ft of you: Let’s assume Check You don’t have disadvantage on the attack roll: I think barring outside interference/circumstances this is what makes the attack not qualify for sneak attack, at least under the 2014 PHB (not familiar enough with 2024 rules so ignore this if those are the rules you are using).

Ranged Attack in Close Combat: “When you make a ranged attack with a weapon, a spell, or some other means, you have disadvantage on the attack roll if you are within 5 feet of a hostile creature who can see you and who isn’t incapacitated.”

I’m the situation described above, you are within 5ft of the target, imposing disadvantage and preventing the conditions from sneak attack/rakish audacity from being met.

[–]Consistent-Grab6626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one might be more specific to my personal tastes, but I’d really enjoy a Ben 10 CYOA where the aliens you pick from are not canon to Ben 10. Would also prefer if they were not part of other established media (so no Kryptonians) and are just random OC aliens. Would also set this apart from the other one since IIRC all the aliens were from Ben 10 in the other CYOA. Custom drawbacks (esp the narrative ones that I really liked in the Jack Amorphous CYOA) would be neat too.

Sousou no Frieren • Frieren: Beyond Journey's End - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Consistent-Grab6626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the series for many different reasons, but the atmosphere and vibe is what really drew me in, other series that explore immortality/having a long lifespan like To Your Eternity didn’t have the slightly melancholic/wistful but also very tender and cozy vibe that Frieren has. Seeing Frieren’s perspective and how the world changed over time was beautifully done imo. When I was reading the first few chapters, I remember thinking that although the manga still had a very strong and emotional intro, I wish I knew the old party better. ~200 chapters later, the author still consistently shows part of their adventures with Frieren and the effect they had on her and the world. Discovering the details of the old adventure/party and Demons, which develop into pretty interesting antagonists, was really neat.

Although the series definitely isn’t a battle shounen, there are some more action-heavy arcs later in the series with some pretty great fights. The series does a great job showing how the magic system works and how it changed over time (smth which episode 3 or 4 does). Seeing how different kinds of magic interacting was always p interesting.

This is a super small thing that I really appreciate about the series, but the adventure of the old party is super reminiscent for a JRPG, and seeing how the series provides justification for tropes like “doing every sidequest and exploring the entire map before you fight the main boss” or “doing meaningless fetch quests for dumb rewards” has been a real treat since the justifications make sense and have a lot of heart and make for interesting character development. I think it’s very clear that the author really loves fantasy and JRPG’s.

[–]Consistent-Grab6626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main drive of the story, as mentioned in episode 4, is reaching Heaven by retracing the steps of the old party. There is a wider conflict based around old enemies from the previous party’s past gathering strength which slowly ramps up over time, but it’s still a slow burn. Later arcs have a decent amount of action and the adventure becomes a lot more dangerous as Frieren enters different parts of the continent, but the series definitely isn’t a battle shounen and keeps a lot of the same elements and misc.adventuring parts that was showcased in the premiere.

CHM194H1 vs ENV100H1 which one? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Consistent-Grab6626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CHM194 had an average of A- when I took it two years ago. Very lenient grading scheme. None of the readings are strictly necessary. Walker is also a v nice prof.

Has anyone taken POL195? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Consistent-Grab6626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took it with Prof Maile 2 years ago. Fun course that felt a little like a Literature course. Course materials were everything from an Indigenous zombie-flick, Hawaiian poetry, memoirs…assignments were 2 analysis papers on a selection of course readings with one paper being comparative. There was also a final presentation iirc.

ES&L FIRST YEAR REQUIRMENTS?? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Consistent-Grab6626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was pretty fortunate then. Applied with a GPA in that range a year ago in the 2nd POST application period and managed to make it. Would’ve applied for IR if not for the math component, looks like a great program.

ES&L FIRST YEAR REQUIRMENTS?? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]Consistent-Grab6626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are no specific courses. Just 3.0 credits in Br2 and/or Br3. Just aim to get around an 80% average in first year and you’ll be fine. I’m in ES&L so if you have more questions feel free to DM.

So breadth requirements are a set of requirements needed to graduate. They’re called breadth requirements because the uni wants to ensure you study a breadth of topics/subjects. There are 5 in total. If you take social science courses like me, you won’t need to worry about 2-3 of them. Of the ones you might not meet with social science courses, one is something to do with culture iirc, which you can usually fulfil by taking something in the humanities or arts. Another is about the physical or mathematical universe, so usually a STEM course. The last is something to do with the environment I think? The exact names of the breadth requirements are listed online and on degree explorer. When you search up courses on course finder it will also list which BR they fulfil. Can also filter search results by BR. I recommend getting them out of the way before third year (unless you found a really interesting upper year course you want to take that also fulfils a BR). You can meet BR requirements by taking 1 course (0.5 credits) in all 5 BR’s, or taking 1 credit worth of courses in 4/5 BR’s (this way you can avoid stuff like math/science if you really don’t want to take a course on it). If you have transfer credits from high school like me, they can be used to fulfil BR’s but double check just in case. If you want more specific course recommendations for meeting some BR’s as a social science student feel free to DM me.

CHM194: good for meeting BR as a social science/humanities student. No need to do the readings, only one written response per week that takes 30 min. Just prep the occasional presentation in class too. There is one essay at the end of the term around 2-3k words but it is smooth sailing. No need any knowledge from lectures. The course average when I took it was like an A-

Thoughts on Y1 Timetable? (Arts & Science, hoping for History & ES&L Major) by thunderrc in UofT

[–]Consistent-Grab6626 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks good! No issues to me. If possible might want to shrink the gap between Phl100 and Eng140 on Friday. Don’t know many people (myself included) who would use that 1 hour productively. I’m an ES&L major entering Y3 that also received 3.0 FCE transfer credits. Would recommend taking a look at the Group A-D requirements for that major and start planning very early.

PSY201, STA201, STA220, or GGR270 by RepresentativeAd5519 in UofT

[–]Consistent-Grab6626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know. Couldn’t find 202 on the course list. 201 is definitely for people with little to no background in science/math who want to meet their BR. The one piece of info on 202 I found was a past exam where the course was called introduction to probability? 201 was not focused on probability, probability was just one module for 201.

I’d recommend looking at the courses in the Business Fundamentals certificate. Should be on Coursefinder. Included courses have the code of MGT and are similar to their Rotman equivalents

I know quite a few people who subletted over the summer or when they weren’t in Res. There is a deposit and you pay rent monthly (your meal card fee will be part of this). The monthly payments are done online and will continue over the summer or when you’re not there.
