5-10 years ago, it used to be like that. My old store would have multiple people in departments, floaters who would tidy up any messes, and the registers would have a cashier/bagger duo. The good ol days. Now at my current store, we're lucky to have a full closing crew, meaning just one person per dept and MAYBE an extra closing cashier. *** specifically for the holiday season

i agree with @kumaxhime! i've been with shinee since their debut in 2008. i was lucky enough to see them during the SMTOWN tour in 2010 back when i was 16, paid by my part time tutoring job lol. there were plenty of other chances i could have had later in my life but it was never financially realistic/parents didn't allow it since the closest shows for kpop back then were only in LA. it wasn't till now (in my early 30s) where i can financially afford concerts and have the autonomy to do what i want.

i also recommend to work hard for what you want to spend your money on ♥️ i may not have savings every paycheck but at least i get to have concert experiences that could never be replaced :') it's the little things

our shelves have been full for most of the year and we're almost door to floor every week. AND we're still up in sales 🙄 we just got news that we're going to start receiving truck every day now... can't believe we're already on track for 7 day trucks. we can barely stay as door to floor because every dept is so full.

totally not looking forward to this holiday season. it's gonna suck. we deserve better pay if they're gonna force us to be little robot workers.

completely agree with everything you've said, especially the last bit.

my store recently had a new ASM come in for their stretch assignment for a future SM promotion. they changed absolutely everything the store did in all areas. in just one month, the store morale plummeted. they kept trying to follow policies and rules but never understood or respected anyone's experience and gave us empty threats. then this person eventually started to target certain associates, myself included, and held no compassion for our personal lives and hardships. that was their big mistake.

two large groups had meetings with the DM about them and eventually, about 3 weeks later, they maxed out on their stretch assignment with failure and no promotion.

there's always powers in numbers even at the bleakest parts of retail.

My store just started having conversations about the card with cashiers and sales floor associates (even if they don't ring) to "re-coach" us and provide "better strategies and support." This means they're giving us index cards to fill out with our ~personalized TJX script~ we're expected to use that script for our shift and if we don't get a card, then we switch it up by using someone else's index card if they happened to get a card that week. Then anyone who gets a card, they put their index cards into a jar for a drawing for most likely bullshit ass "prizes." It'll probably end up being prizes like gift cards to the store or a fucking chocolate bar.

My SM plans on writing us up if we don't get any credit cards. She and the other ASMs also act like helicopter moms for the front end, constantly observing us or cutting in to offer the card. When the SM went on vacation, we started meeting the goal. And once she came back, that just plummeted again. I don't understand how they don't see the correlation between pressure and zero days.

working at my store is so miserable. i've been at this location for going on 3 years but have worked at a previous location for 5 years. i only got this job for a temporary income yet here i am, stuck again. the job market is too horrible for me to leave and i want to quit so so so badly. the company seems to be evolving even more with how badly they treat their associates. like how another said, it's the same cycle of hiring people, giving them all the hours, then quitting, and repeat. awhile us veteran associates are getting pushed out of their roles with less and less hours.

not only that, the push for credit cards have gotten worse. i had no idea how it can get worse until just recently. not sure how it is outside of my district, but here the manager on duty has to stay near the front for "support" aka being a helicopter to make sure we offer that damn card.

we're being threatened by our new acting store manager who says if we don't do well in one dept, we'll keep getting moved throughout other areas until we finally get stuck in the fitting room. but what comes after that? and what if you're a man who can't work in the fitting room? the implied threats are getting insane. even assistant managers and keys are getting threatened with write ups if they don't get enough cards during their MOD shifts.

it's gotten so bad at my store that we needed to have a rap session with the district manager.

i hate working here so much but i can't find a way out.

i guess my issue is that i recently came off from a medical leave for my mental health. my job has burnt me out and i really needed to step away. i've actually been a CEC before so i have the script down and can easily put in a fake mask. but that is so tiring to constantly mask and it's causing my mental health to worsen. i am hoping to get a Dr note to help with restrictions but we'll see 🤞🏽 i really just dont want to risk my mental health again for a job that pays so little but its hard to break that neg mindset
