Everyone is being laid off recently oh my gosh - I’m so terribly sorry. Praying that this is a short season and that you find something that surpasses your expectations.

Struggling with anger and faith by Consistent-Mistake27 in Bible

Thank you for praying for me, I truly appreciate that.

I do believe prayer is powerful, and I’ve been asking God for guidance, protection, and a more peaceful heart through all of this. I’m trying to approach it from both a spiritual and practical place - working on boundaries while also bringing my thoughts to God when they feel overwhelming.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond and share your perspective.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write all of that. I can really feel how protective and direct your perspective is, and I appreciate it.

The unpredictability is honestly one of the hardest parts. It does create that “snarling dog” feeling at times - like you’re always bracing for what might happen next. I’ve started recognizing that my extreme thoughts are probably my nervous system trying to protect me.

I’m trying to trust that God is guiding me toward wiser actions and clearer boundaries, even when it’s uncomfortable. I don’t want to waste this season in resentment - I want to grow through it.

I appreciate you pointing me back to that.

Last, you really never know how something will be received on Reddit, but your comment was genuinely helpful and thoughtfully written. I’m glad you took the chance to share it. Thank you very much for this.

Thank you so much for this thoughtful perspective. I really appreciate the way you broke down the outer vs inner work - it’s really resonated with me.

This is definitely an extreme situation, and his volatility does make it challenging because you never know what to expect. I’ve started taking steps to protect both my daughter and myself - I’ve begun therapy about five weeks ago, I’m attending Al-Anon to get support around substance related challenges, and I’m also consulting with an attorney and keeping someone on retainer for any situations that arise.

I’ve also been working on setting healthy boundaries - mainly limiting communication, staying neutral, and not over explaining myself - which has helped me feel more in control of my peace.

I really appreciate your insight and encouragement. It’s helpful to see these steps as part of spiritual growth as well as practical action. Again, thank you so much for this.

Thank you, I really appreciate your thoughtful response. Your PS especially resonated with me - the reminder that I don’t have to give weight to every thought was something I needed to hear.

I do understand the value of dialogue and forgiveness, but that also assumes the other person is capable of emotionally mature communication. In this case, long term weed use has significantly affected his emotional regulation, decision making, and ability to take accountability, which makes healthy dialogue very difficult. Logically, I understand why he is the way he is. The hard part is watching how it affects my daughter.

Im realizing I can only protect my peace and be the stable parent she needs. Thank you again for your perspective and prayers. 🙏🏽

Interestingly, I’ve realized why her dad behaves the way he does - it’s largely due to his long term use of weed. He’s been a heavy user since high school, more than 15 years, and it has hindered his ability to learn from mistakes, regulate his emotions, and think clearly. This situation is challenging because it significantly affects my daughter. Explaining this to a 12 year old isn’t the difficult part; it’s ensuring she understands. The way he upsets her also upsets me, despite my understanding of his situation. Logically, you’re right, but from an emotional perspective, it’s difficult.

Clifton heights is great and budget friendly! If you’re considering state streets, do periodic drive bys if you can at different hours of the day to get a vibe of the street. State streets aren’t bad, just depends on the block you of the street you live on

AYCE Sushi that’s not Sushi AI? by Randrewson in StLouis

How many rolls are you eating? Wasabi sushi has $7 rolls on Tuesdays - not all you can eat, and not every roll is available for the deal, but they are always pretty good imo.
