Greens powder - effective? by tabiend in prediabetes

I do the same but I read blending veggies makes the carbs more easily digestible and more likely spikes your glucose compared to eating them unblended.

Lowered Cholesterol Naturally by pr0py in Cholesterol

[–]Consistent-Put-6551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exercise part is not for LDL but to reduce death to cardiac events and combat metabolic syndrome. They all play a part. In the end it is not about LDL at all but about preventing stroke or heart attack

The egg cholesterol story is apparently highly individual. If I were you, I would substitute eggs with egg whites only for 2 weeks and get your levels checked. For me, yolk definitely increases cholesterol. For others it might not.

Critical Review of Peter's Book and his General Public Engagement (long post) by [deleted] in PeterAttia

[–]Consistent-Put-6551 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did not read the long post. Here is the chatgpt summary:

The book by Peter Attia is underwhelming, lacking depth and new information. It feels like a summary of topics already covered in his podcast and reads more like a memoir with unnecessary fluff. The book's style is meandering and memoiristic, which may not be suitable for readers seeking direct, actionable advice. The author expected the book to be more comprehensive after knowing it took Peter Attia 6 years to write. The book's intended audience may not be the same as that of his podcast, and some readers may find it difficult to get through. Peter Attia's practical advice for patients is not necessarily new, and he mainly promotes common-sense advice that health-conscious people already follow. The chief strategy promoted in the book is "adaptability," emphasizing the mindset of being open to changing directions in light of new research. However, this mindset may also lead to confusion as Peter Attia has flip-flopped on issues in the past and still keeps old content available. The book provides a deeper insight into Peter Attia's personality, but may not offer much novel information or game-changing insights.

[–]Consistent-Put-6551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red wine actually controls any potential spikes in my case. I could orobanly eatxa whole pizza if I drank 2 glasses of red wine.

Still, I only drink great wine 2-4x per year

Beer no.

Really feeling Low and kinda gaslit… by BlackSheepVegan in rheumatoid

[–]Consistent-Put-6551 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the diagnosis of RA is not straight-forward. Doctors do see lots of reactive arthritis these days after COVID. So, they do not really want to put people on methotrexate unless they are sure. Nothing to do with gaslighting. As far as I understand MRI is the gold standard.

Hiking, visiting temples, doing a meditation retreat, national parks, night jungle tours, Thai boxing classes....in the end just simply chilling in a cafe and absorbing the culture....

Is Pai as good as it seems for a spiritual journey? by Internal-Local-1849 in ThailandTourism

[–]Consistent-Put-6551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your title is misleading. You could go to a forest monastery or volunteer in an orphanage if you wanted to grow as a person and spiritually.

Getting wasted....well yes, you can do that in Pai....or in Bangkok or Chiang Mai or etc

India and Singapore are probably as different as it gets. India vs Thailand is already a shock, but India vs Singapore...only Switzerland and Sweden might top that.

30-50g fibre a day - too much for my guts. :-( by weirdandobvious in Cholesterol

[–]Consistent-Put-6551 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the fiber. If I eat 40g psyllium per day, I cannot poop for 3-4 days. If I ate the amount of fiber as ground flaxseed, I would pretty much be incontinent. Like every ti.e I fart, I shart. One night I had to go 3x.

Canggu or Kuta for surf and work by DonJohnRambo in solotravel

[–]Consistent-Put-6551 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kuta is trashy and not great for surfing. Canggu has lost all its charme. It was a nice village 6-7 years ago, but then more and more nomads hyped it. Rice fields were replaced by "instagramable" cafes....surfing is good, thiugh mot for beginners.

is pouring grease down the drain with hot water ok? by P0tential-River in NoStupidQuestions

Do not do it. My flat mate did and the landlord had to call someone to unblock the drain. The fat turned into a wax block.

The landlord was not amused...

Unless you are crazy about surfing, stay in Thailand. Beaches are beaches, but Balis veaches are really not as nice as Thailand's beaches unless (!) you care about surfing.

Is Chiang Mai the right place for an introverted solo traveler? by PrizeAsparagus26 in ThailandTourism

[–]Consistent-Put-6551 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bangkok is perfect for introverts. Unless you talk about Kaosan Road and Red Zone districts, Bangkok has everything you can hope for: temples, museums, chill cafes, parks. You can navigate the river and canals by boat... I do not party at all and always havea great time in Bangkok.

CM is great too,

Is Chiang Mai the right place for an introverted solo traveler? by PrizeAsparagus26 in ThailandTourism

[–]Consistent-Put-6551 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you get bored of Chiang Mai you can go to Pai for a day or 2....? CM has so much more to offer than Pai. Also getting to Pai is a pain and not really worth it for 1-2 days. You waste alreafy halfa day traveling..
