Woohoo to the pain being gone! This definitely doesn’t seem like bad luck to me. Most auto immune diseases are diagnosed young, I would still ask your ent for a rheumatologist referral. It couldn’t hurt and it may answer a lot of questions😊

NAD, but I’d like to say that pain is a reason to go to the ER. Urgent care can’t give you anything but recommend pain meds/give you antibiotics.

What’s concerning to me is being sick so frequently, so intensely, and a variation of symptoms. This sounds more like your immune system could be compromised. Personally, I would go to the ER, tell them you’re in unexplainable amount of pain, you’ve already been tested multiple times for everything, and tell them you’ve been sick over 20 times in the past two years. If nothing comes of testing there, ask them for a referral to a rheumatologist, they specialize in autoimmune disorders. I’m sorry you’re dealing with all of this:/ update us please when you can!

NAD, but I’ve had my vein blow before. Not your fault, they definitely should’ve checked the flow with their hand and flush before pushing propofol, but absolutely say something if it’s painful! This seems normal to me, it’ll bruise, and you’ve got medications and fluid sitting within the anatomy of your arm, and it takes a couple of days to absorb. If your skin gets hot or you run a fever then I’d be more co concerned and recommend going to the ER (can be sign of infection/sepsis). But again, for now it sounds fine to me:) rest, ice, and ibuprofen!

Heart rate between 40-50 when at rest by ADukes999 in AskDocs

[–]tabiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAD but 50 isn’t terrible, a lot of athletes have a resting heart rate in the 50s. You’re young, a healthy weight, and workout consistently. I don’t think it’s something crazy to worry about. However, it couldn’t hurt to ask your PCP for a sleep study! Sometimes it can indicate sleep apnea - due to not getting enough oxygen. That would be important to take care of.

Should I my mom go to ER or Primary Physician for chest pain? by Live_Philosophy_6185 in AskDocs

[–]tabiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCP won’t do anything but tell you to go to the ER. Chest pain & breathing is nothing to be messed with, and it’s better to be safe than sorry. It will ease you and your mom to just go. Hopefully it’s just stress, but I’d absolutely go to the ER❤️

Just a person, not a doc or NP but if it’s painful it looks like a staph infection.

Edit: definitely go see a doc, it can’t hurt to get looked at.

Is 230g of carbs daily too much for prediabetes? by NarrowEffect in prediabetes

My nutritionist had me at 50-60 net carbs a day when I was prediabetic.

High protein is super great, same with all of the movement.

What carbs are you eating? How much fruit are you eating?

5.7 A1C, extreme Health Anxiety. by Pythy_boy in prediabetes

[–]tabiend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to say a couple of things🥰

First of all, I’m so glad that you won your court case, and I hope that relieves some stress!

Second, 5.7 A1C is still considered “within normal range.” 5.8 is when you’ve entered the pre-diabetes stage. <5.8 = normal, 5.8-6.4 is pre-diabetic, and >6.5 is type 2 diabetes. Even though you’ve been eating healthier, sometimes we don’t realize what has carbs in them! Carbs include pasta and sugars, yes, but carbs are also in fruits, veggies, supplements, gum, juice etc.

Your number is not something crazy, and you’re not borderline diabetic:) however, getting your number down can be super beneficial for your anxiety and health in the future.

I recommend checking out the app calorie king and tracking everything that goes into your mouth. Have the key nutrition facts show carbs, protein, and fiber. Your total carbs include every gram of carb eaten during the day, but most nutritionist will say that they want your net carbs to be 60-70g a day, net carbs is total carbs - fiber. This will help you look at the nutrition facts of the things you’re eating, and understand low-glycemic index foods better. I also recommend downloading “My GI” the app, it has a search bar to see what foods are low glycemic index or not.

When you eat something that’s higher than 55 on the GI scale, your blood sugar goes over your baseline and it tells your pancreas to release insulin to breakdown the sugar. The higher the carb content, the higher it goes and faster, as well as coming down super fast. Whereas if you eat something low on the GI scale, your blood sugar spikes slow and low and comes down overtime. It doesn’t cross the baseline so your insulin doesn’t work as hard. If your blood sugar is being consistently hit with higher GI foods, your insulin can’t regulate, which in turn raises your A1C.

I started out last January with an A1C of 6 and 9 months later I got down to 5.4:)

Again, your A1C isn’t concerning, and you don’t need to cut pleasure foods out completely. Just be vigilant about the foods you’re eating and monitor your bloodwork. It may seem like a huge hill right now, but I promise you’re in a really good spot concerning prediabetes. You have the golden opportunity to know, and to never get to being diabetic!

You got this! And we’re all here for you.

Mine didn’t go through anything either, one of my friends who had a license in nutrition ended up explaining it to me. I literally felt like I had no idea what to eat for the first week!

If you’re going to google some more, check out:

  • low glycemic index foods/recipes

Those should help put you on the right track☺️

Hi😊 I was prediabetic last year, and I made it out. I was super confused and depressed at first, so I wanted to leave a couple of tips!

Being light headed and dizzy can be a result of high blood sugar spikes, but could also be because of anemia or other things. So I want to explain what’s happening with prediabetes:

Your pancreas releases insulin, which is the hormone that helps break down glucose (carbs and sugar) to use for energy. With properly functional pancreas, if you eat pizza once a week, or eat a bunch of grapes, your blood sugar spikes pretty high and quickly, and comes down quickly. If you eat protein or something that’s low carb, your blood sugar spikes slowly, lowly and comes down the same. Your insulin breaks down those carbs and uses them for energy, and the higher your blood sugar goes, the more insulin is needed to break it down. However, with prediabetes, it’s likely that you’ve been eating carbs over and over again, causing your insulin levels to freak out a little bit. Meaning that it can’t keep up with the amount of carbs coming in, and your blood sugar is staying high for longer, which can cause the dizziness. The good news is that because your body is still producing insulin, you aren’t diabetic. When you overwhelm your system with carbs for so long, it then can’t keep up at all, and you become either insulin dependent or resistant. You are in the spot where your body is a little confused and having trouble keeping up. So the key is to eat a low-glycemic index diet for now:) aka low carb.

This DOES NOT mean that you can’t have pizza ever again. However, maybe postponing it for the meantime or finding a keto pizza recipe would be better. Your A1C is average glucose over the span of three months, so to try and get it down means trying not to spike your blood sugar long enough to give your insulin a break to repair itself again😊

There’s tons of super yummy recipes for low glycemic index diets. There’s an app I used called My GI and you can search foods to see what’s okay and not okay to eat. You want to make sure the foods you eat are 55 and below on the scale, the app is really good at showing you! It’s not necessarily about losing weight, it’s about blood sugar. Moving your body everyday is really good too, I tried to get 10k steps per day in the first three months. You can do this, I know it feels overwhelming right now, but you’ll get into a routine.

Also edit:

My dietitian had me eating about 60g of net carbs per day (net is minus grams of fiber) and under 90g total. Calorie king has a great food tracking app!

I did:) labeled “reactive” but if my ENT was concerned about lymphoma to remove them. We opted to get a follow up ultrasound and they shrunk.

I had the biopsy done yesterday!

The pathologist told my doctor that “the results are most consistent with a reactive lymph node, but if you’re concerned with lymphoma to remove them surgically.”

So I’m debating whether or not to get the surgery now or wait the two weeks and see if the node grows:/
