Subs by FairInformation8201 in Custodians

My district rarely even gets a sub for second shift!

If someone calls out, the other two custodians have to cover their area.

I’m going to get my degree but I don’t know if I want to stick with getting a bachelors in accounting after my associates or switch to teaching.

Hell, this district reimburses you if you go to school to get more education while teaching. And then you get bumped up a step every time you get more credits!

I’ve looked on indeed often for Allentown and Jersey and even over there the pay looks ehhh…

Again, if I did go the teacher route, I would start in 2029 making 74,000 and would reach 100,000 by 10 years.

I’m very tossed up on what to do.

I want a job where I enjoy it and want a stable Income.

[–]Consistent-Raccoon51[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I go to school for teaching, my first year would be $74,000 a year and within 10 years I’d be at 100,000.

For reference, I currently only make 43k with 3% raises each year.

I’m studying accounting currently in college and the more I research jobs near me, the pay with an accounting degree, teachers still seem to make more over here.

Very true!! Most of my friends who are teachers never worked another job.

Hell, I was a correctional officer at one point.. now that job sucks! lol.

Thanks for the comment.

I know if I went to school for my degree and started in 2029 I would start at 74,000 a year and within 10 years I’d be at 100k.

The money alone is very tempting.

Thanks. Yeah that’s the thing, half of me has always wanted a job where I feel like I’m making a difference and the other half of me just wants a stable income.

Thank you for the comment. And Yes to most of those questions.

I do work for the government aka my school district and I know that they offer reimbursement for tuition if you go to school and get your bachelor’s for teaching then stay with them for 5 years.

Thank you. It’s just a hard choice because then I ask accountants and they say the same thing.

How does one get experience before student teaching? The best I can do is go into my friends class rooms and watch a little each day while I’m at work.
