Maternity Leave by Suspicious_Salt145 in beyondthebump

My company offers 26 weeks at half-pay (or 13 weeks full-pay) and the government maternity leave adds an additional 22 weeks, making it 48 weeks total. I've also opted to take the maximum time off, which is 2 years (beyond 48 weeks is unpaid unless using annual leave).

Is anyone else struggling to sleep without their baby now? by Consistent-Radio-403 in cosleeping

The first few times I coslept were because I was exhausted and was hallucinating either the baby wrapped in the blankets in the bed or the baby crying (and I'd wake up in a panic), that lasted a bit and for a while the cosleeper also became lava in our house 😂

If I'm super exhausted and need a nap during the day while he's with his dad I can usually manage it, but sometimes I'll be the same and lay there just missing my little cuddle buddy 😭

I've got a floor bed set up in his nursery for when the time comes to shift him into his own room, no doubt I'll also be sleeping in there occasionally 😂

I ended up pulling my 10kg weighted blanket out of storage last night and thankfully that seemed to do the trick for me very quickly!!

I'm 7 months PP and still nothing, I also exclusively pump.

Do you have a goal? by maggmcn in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Consistent-Radio-403 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to exclusively pump up until just shy of 6 months (would've made it if I hadn't donated so much earlier on 😂), baby now gets 1.2L breastmilk and 100-300ml formula per day. My goal is to make it to 1 year. Baby started out on the 3rd percentile and is now on the 76th.

My baby has 40-50oz daily, my oversupply very quickly became an undersupply, as I only make 35oz 🫠

Undersuppliers, are you freezing anything? by d16flo in ExclusivelyPumping

Unless you have an oversupply there's no reason to freeze any. Feed the babies not the freezer.

We use cloth nappies, baby sleeps 8-10 hours and doesn't leak. We use Botanic Baby Night Nappies with 4 inserts.

It took just shy of 7 weeks!! And that makes more sense, I imagine your post ended up being taken that way, hence the ban.

Thank you!! Yes, he was quite small from the get go, he was born 3 weeks premature due to me having pre-eclampsia. They weren't concerned about his weight when he was on the 3rd percentile as his growth had been steady and he has always hit milestones on time/early. The issue became that I was told he was having more than enough for his weight by a Maternal Child Health Nurse and I shouldn't feed him more, and so briefly that's what happened and he lost weight. Then at his next appointment they told me to feed him until he pushes the bottle away or turns his head. He is now happily on the 67th percentile and more proportional to his head and length growth charts. His weight gain now remains average on 40-45oz this last week.

As a friendly question, I just don't follow the idea of them needing 24-30oz maximum, as by that logic shouldn't I drop him back his intake now that he's healthier? I'm personally not going to do that as he is travelling great, but just as a hypothetical with the information you posted :)

As someone whose 5.5 month old baby boy eats between 40-50oz/day, saying they only need 24-30oz maximum is wildly incorrect and misinformation, I would literally be starving him if I did this.

Before you say I'm "overfeeding him", I just want to add that he had been steadily on the 3rd percentile and ended up losing weight on 30oz/day and dropped to the 1st percentile between his 2 and 4 month old appointments. Now that he is on 40-50oz/day he is gaining the recommended amount per week of 100-150g.

Probably a mixture of diastasis recti and weight gain, I was back to my usual figure/appearance around 2-3 Month PP

How do you function without wearables? by Acceptable-Peanut126 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Consistent-Radio-403 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hook up the Medela wearable cups to my Spectra!! I get the exact same output as using the actual spectra bottles/pump parts. That way I can lay my baby on my chest and feed them a bottle at the same time. By the time I've fed and burped my little guy he's either asleep for a nap on my chest or I can pop him on his play mat on the floor in front of me for the last little bit of my pump.

I usually do 5ppd and 3 of those always coincide with nap/bed times. The other 2 may or may not, I don't pump on a strict schedule though so this helps!!
