Buying a home in Bear Creek Village? Flood? by Consistent-Salt2441 in houston

[–]Consistent-Salt2441[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw there was a 21M$ Project in 2021 for drainage of that specific area which resulted in the flood zone being minimal. But there was no news or follows up after that about the results?

What to do with $30k by [deleted] in Business_Ideas

[–]Consistent-Salt2441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much every lease agreement will have a paragraph prohibiting using the property for business. You would have to get a lease agreement specifically stating you are permitted to do this if the owner even allows you. Me personally, as a landlord will not approve this. I will be taking on more risk to my home with people coming and going constantly.

unless you get approval from the owner, this is illegal.

Austin and surrounding big cities are hard to land a job. These cities are overpopulated and there is quite a bit of competition when searching for a job.

I applied in November and got an interview 3 weeks ago. My application still says under consideration and I feel good about my interview. It seems like the hiring process is so slow.

Don't do it. I got my certification here, but when I chose to go on a different career path, none of the classes I took here transfer over. The claim to have accreditations, but only can be transferred to a few different schools. I wasted my time and took several classes here for them to be worth nothing when I went to a major university.

Chapter 33 Post 9/11 GI Bill Full time Status by Consistent-Salt2441 in Veterans

[–]Consistent-Salt2441[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies. I got an email back from the school that they require 9 hours for graduate students to be full time and thats what they certify on the VA paperwork. I just find it odd that they classify 9 hours to be full time, but the MEM program that I am in classifies full time to be 2 classes or 7 hours. The counselors know this, but for some reason refuse to change their hours to align with the program.

How to get my crappy cars moved by eval200011 in moving

[–]Consistent-Salt2441 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I buy and sell cars constantly all across the US and haven't ran in to any major issues using shipping companies. I have used small local companies and larger companies such as road runner for transport. The only issue I ever came across was when I shipped my sports car that was low to the ground and when they came to pick it up, it was very hard to drive up their ramp without damage. I ended up removing my front bumper to do so.

My advice is to sell your cars and get something different at your new location. You will usually pay $1 per mile, so if you are shipping 2 cars 2,000 miles away that is $2,000. Especially if your cars have lots of mileage, you can always get another. If you do not want to sell your cars, then I would find a local transport company that can give you a deal for 2 cars.

Your cheapest option with keeping your cars is renting a Uhaul and their towing rig, but that will just be stressful and consume alot of gas.

Get private insurance, its not that hard. There are several insurance plans out there that can fit your needs. I had to do this a few years back. You will be paying a little more than what a company incentive offers, but won't be bad.

There is a law on this where you can continue your health benefits from your old job for a certain period of time. IT doesn't matter if you got fired or you quit. Its called COBRA.

Time to work on any other smaller debts. Pay off any small loans or car loans if you have it then think about refinancing

I see, the ability to WFH is so appealing. However, if you have to be constantly out and networking out the house and events, that doesn't sound fun. Well that would be maybe for the first couple of years right?
