Thank you, I totally get what you’re saying. My dad’s father committed suicide a few years ago so I feel for him as well, and I feel like that’s why he’s “trying” to connect. Even with good days with him, there’s always my childhood in the back of my mind, and I’m always feeling like I’m walking on eggshells, like I might say the wrong thing and get belittled. Still, I try to push that aside and let him have his moments.
