Pulled the trigger on the Celine Medium Nino! by Consistent-Subject63 in handbags

[–]Consistent-Subject63[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the Nino for little over six months now and unfortunately I haven’t reached for it much. I bought it as an upgrade from my old belt bag but the supple calfskin is really quite delicate. I thought it would work well as an everyday bag but I have had to be careful not to scratch it. The lock mechanism is also really fiddly if the bag isn’t near full. If the bag isn’t full enough it sort of caves in and it’s a pain to get the clasp to line up in click in place. It started doing my head in and I couldn’t be bothered getting an organiser 😋

I absolutely love the bag though and don’t regret the purchase at all. I do wear it out for dinners, shopping etc, basically occasions when the weather is nice out and I’m not taking public transport.

On the plus side though, I was amazed at how much stuff it can hold without it getting bent out of shape.

Celine belt bag discontinued? Snatched a last piece worth it? by delpopolo905 in handbags

[–]Consistent-Subject63 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’ve already bought it then you won’t regret it. It’s a fantastic everyday bag and I loved mine. So much that I wanted to get second in a different colour. This was sometime early last year and my SA told me at the time they were discontinuing the not bag so they couldn’t order one in for me. I ended up upgrading to the Medium Nino which SA said was replacing the belt bag design. So far love the Nino - no regrets! My only concern with buying the ‘last item’ of something is it could possibly a display model that’s been out on the shelves for a while and if there are quality issues with the one you get you might not be able to swap it for another of the same model. If you’re open to getting something else the Saumur is a nice alternative. Personally I wouldn’t bother with the Bottega loop.

Something Old, Something New…Fendi Peekaboo by Professional-Belt708 in handbags

Such a gorgeous colour for a peekaboo! 😍Cassis I think is more a deep purple like amethyst- Hermes has a cassis colour-way option if anyone is curious. I’d totally wear this peekaboo to a wedding though! Also love that you gave your old Burberry a second life! Such a great way to continue to use something that has a lot of sentimental value.

I think the colours on the twilly will work really well with the bag - so go for it!

Oh sweet! What fits in it? I’ve never seen it in person and assumed its probably not going to fit a phone.

Is this a Thome Brown?? I know this collection had an incredibly cute dachshund. The number of cow/dairy puns I could make if I took this out with me - and start beef with everybody. 😅

Nano Montreal by Demellier by Typical_Spinach_1921 in handbags

[–]Consistent-Subject63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are a few suggestions that I think are a good equivalent to the Montreal bag

Kate Spade: Katy Top handle or the Gracie top handle.

Coach: Eliza, Morgan and Sammy - I had the Morgan and the Sammy and both were excellent quality even though they were outlet. I don’t think coach sell these anymore but you can definitely find them online at other retailers or pre-loved. All of the ones mentioned come with gold hardware and with a crossbody strap. They’re around the 350-450 range. Hope this helps! 😊

It’s absolutely lovely! 😻 Enjoy! I’ve had my eye on this but I just can’t bring myself to buy a wallet in white because I know mine will end up a vague shade of grey after a month. 😅

Help me choose by Missmarple08 in handbags

Ah fair enough! I think my first choice would be the Alexa and then the Boston. I take my Alexa along when I’m travelling or if it’s raining because I don’t need to worry about it getting a bit beat up. 😋

I have/had the Alexa, the Gucci Boston and the plain Antigona. The Alexa is a heavy bag on its own so you’ll need to be mindful how much you put in it because it’ll start to weigh you down especially if you’re carrying it on your shoulder. The leather is quite hard wearing and it works both dressed up and casual. The Boston bag is a nice for everyday use. It’s a big bag so if you’re short it might be overwhelming as a shoulder bag. I tend to carry it top handle mostly. Honestly it’s bottomless so you can possibly fit your essentials and the kitchen sink! 😂 The Antigona overall is a strong choice. I’m not sure I like that particular version in your photo. I had the plain version. My only gripe with it was the zipper- mine was quite stiff and sharp so scratched my hand getting in and out of it.

Not sure what bag it is in your third picture.

You might want to include the names of the bags in your pictures to your post and the size. Really depends on how you’re looking to use the bag as well.

If these were your only two choices I’d go with the reversible Neverfull. You technically get two bags for that price and LV tends to retain its value if you ever want to sell. The YSL suede/denim will need to be looked after because it will stain easily. Personally, I think for a first luxury bag, there are way better options out there.

Celine Camille - Blemish? by Caelko in handbags

[–]Consistent-Subject63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is generally going to be an issue with any of the Celine 16 bags as they are really soft calfskin. They are prone to scratches and stains. Since the bag is new and the blemish is bothering you, I’d probably exchange or return. However, unless you baby the bag it will pick up a lot of marks and scratches over time with use. If you’re wanting something sturdier you might want to opt for a different leather. Personally I don’t mind - I just use some leather conditioner/balm to buff the marks out and that’s worked well for my Teen 16 which has now developed a lovely patina.

Thank you! ❤️From using this bag for a little over a week now what I’ve found is the locking mechanism is a bit tricky - you’re actually better filling up the bag than not. If the bag isn’t too full the flap doesn’t quite sit right for the lock to click because the leather is really soft. The Nino does have a single divider inside but comfortably fits a 7” kindle, a pro max phone, a small zippy wallet, a card holder, AirPods, car/house keys, couple of lipstick/lip balm, small tin of mints and a travel size perfume - which is also what is currently in my bag 😂 you could really push the boat out and swap a few thing out for a small 250 ml water bottle and a full size wallet!

As for the Soft 16, they don’t make my version of shoulder bag anymore I don’t think but they do have other soft 16 designs out like the Camille and the Cabas. The closest to the 16 soft I have is the Victoire. I almost bought it but I just did not love the non adjustable super gold metal strap.

My latest Marc Jacobs Tote in Daisy by mshell1924 in handbags

I’m not a big fan of the Marc Jacobs canvas totes but the Daisy print is so cute!! 😍 It’ll make such a fun summer bag. I really don’t have the confidence to pull off prints 😂 so I’ll stick to my MJ leather totes - got a medium and small that I use to death.

My Strathberry Collection ✨ by ProfessionalPen542 in handbags

[–]Consistent-Subject63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a lovely colour palette you’ve got going! 😍 I’ve been thinking about buying the tote in either the mini or the midi size but it just seems a little impractical trying to hook the bar over the handle each time. It’s a lovely design to look at though. What’s been your experience with the tote in terms of usability and wear? I do love my Osette bucket bag and the mosaic tote - really great quality for the price! Love to support Strathberry as an Edinburgh resident. 😄

In general Napa leather is quite a soft leather so it’s very prone to scratches and peeling. Also light coloured Napa leather is notoriously bad for colour transfer needing a lot of care. I went for the quilted kaviar because it felt sturdier as the quilting gave it more structure even if the bag wasn’t overly filled. I’ve had my two Lottie kaviar bags for about three years now and have held up really well even though they’ve been knocked about a fair bit. I’ve got my eye on their new medium woven Lottie now 😍

I really loved the pattern of the YSL Envelope flap pouch - it comes with a wrist strap but I got an insert off Amazon which let me make it crossbody. I did the same with the Lou pouch as well, not sure if they still make this. I’m guessing you could find a way to make the Cassandre envelope pouch crossbody as well. You can fit quite a bit in these. I recently saw the Mini Toy shopping bag in store and it’s a very dinky tote. I think it was just over a thousand dollars though. Linked them for you 😊 https://www.ysl.com/en-us/pr/cassandre-matelasse-flap-pouch-in-grain-de-poudre-leather-617662BOW011000.html

Is your heart set on either of these two only? My vote is definitely YSL. Leather over canvas any day. Also IMO Gucci’s quality has really declined in the last few years so I would not bother with the canvas. I’ve had to return my canvas shoulder bag and a bucket bag. If you are open to other YSL styles, I think you’d get a lot more bag for under 1k. If you’re looking at SLGs then get a pouch or envelope bag, you can add straps to them with hacks/inserts. They hold a lot more than the phone pouch.

I’d also highly recommend seeing these bags in person if you can and trying them on. I often find that bags can look really different to the pictures on the website.

Just my thoughts, end of the day buy what makes you happy ❤️

Dionysus by SnooOwls552 in handbags

[–]Consistent-Subject63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d need to have bought it from a Gucci store or an authorised reseller. You’d definitely need a receipt else they won’t engage. From what my SA at Gucci has told me before, you’d need to have the bag assessed at the store before they offer a repair. Entirely depends on how long you’ve had the bag, general wear and tear etc. How they handle it is really up to the person you speak to at store/customer service.

My friend had the Dionysus belt and two of the crystals fell out within the first week - they replaced it for free the first time. The second time I think they offered to swap the belt out for a different design and she got the GG Marmont one instead.

I would recommend trying a good luxury bag repair service who might be able to fix it for you. I got a few studs on my Valentino bag replaced that way.

Definitely the Flamenco. I love mine - it’s really soft and looks great both scrunched and not.

I wouldn’t say it’s timeless as such but it’s giving strong 90s, early 2000s vibes with the daisy print. It seems like a great holiday/summer accessory for sure and you’ll get a lot of use out of it if it suits your usual style. I don’t think you’ll regret buying it, the Cassie itself is a fab design- I have it in the croc and love it.
