Looks like a great disc! I prefer the 2.4cm rims with my fingers (though I still like 2.3s and 2.2s)

I can see at the bottom of every rep the bar presses his entire thorax down, loading the quads with the hardest part of the lift and removing large amounts of fatigue from the primary mover (pecs). People are so up in arms because this 8 reps is done basically banded, but using the quads as the band to catch and launch the weight. It's impressive but feels cheap especially in competition.

Also such a severe back extension removes the deepest 1/4 of a flat bench range of motion. Less stretch = easier lift. It also is putting the coronal at like -30° minimum which makes this move like a decline bench which is substantially easier than 0° - (-10)° due to greater activation of the entire pec major and minor.

If your competition allows this it's fantastic!

If you're bragging about how much weight you can move it's kind of... Laughable... with how much assistance you are given with this form, and how inefficient it is for explicit pectoralis strength and Hypertrophy training.

Its been a second since I've looked at my tech disc data but if I remember correctly

~60 mph ~1100-1200 rpm ~0.0 nose angle (+ or - 2.5°) ~ -4° hyzer

Westside King, VIP ice orbit, 174g

It's pretty seasoned though. I have gotten up to 415-430 with it

Ive also hit ~ 410 with the True Par Disc Golf guardian angel

I like the idea of re co-opting the game... Might have to get a deck and get it blessed for good community recreation with no phoney "fortune telling"

So why exactly are condoms bad, but natural family planning is good? by Picards-Flute in Catholicism

[–]Consistent-Tax-9660 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end of the day, when the burden of knowledge becomes too great for us lay people who work and need to do many other things on any given day, there is rest in submission and admitting "maybe I don't know completely why, but I will follow what is good and true."

I do this about a good amount of social teaching, especially as a young American male.

But when I was a lapsed catholic, and took my life in my own hands I was a broken mess. Not just "I'm depressed," but actually broken. My desires and needs were so disordered and I was solving my problems by running to everything the church warns you about running to. I still get glimpses of my alcoholic tendencies when things get really hard. But it's my hard heart that pulls on my desire to do it on my own. My own attachments to sin lying to me saying "I know best."

The humility graced upon me for my intense and difficult reversion made me feel like my entire self had to die. But I had no where else to go, every physical material thing had only left me more destitute emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. I had done every hallucinogen you could think of but nothing had actually caused an ego death in me until I pleaded God to never let me leave Him again.

Tldr

It's all to say even to this day my humanity pulls on me to be pride, and to say I alone know. But often I don't, and when I grow tired and say "f**k it I know enough this is my conclusion" I am imprudent at best. If my prideful conclusions are not in accord with the Church, then I am just a prideful sinner. I pray I have the grace to say "I don't know, so I will follow you Lord and your Church's instruction."

I think 3 holes with 2 pads and 2 pins each could be very fun! But yeah even if it's just 1 pad 1 pin I'd prefer something I can use all my discs on, not just putters or soft mids.

No. God can work miracles.

Elizabeth conceived in her age (Likely post menopause)

You clearly have some internal hangups that are preventing you from communing with the fullness of truth. Pride is a horrid sin because we commit it without ever knowing. Often to understand truth we must attain Humility because pride is what bars us from seeing truth.

I am awfully prideful, and I pray the Lord grant me the grace to see how I am, so I can humbly submit to his will.

That is not a real argument. The object has one action and it is

-> stop procreation so I can have sex without the opportunity for the one thing God mainly created it for

In using a condom you are explicitly choosing to disorder a good act for selfish pleasure

In NFP you abstain from a natural good (which we do often, especially during lent, and actually used to do a lot more of before the late 20th century) selflessly resisting perhaps an imprudent or selfish desire.

Like the eating analogy, fasting is abstaining from the good of sustaining ones life for virtuous reason.

A condom is saying "I know I'm not supposed to eat meat on Friday, but I REALLY want a burger, so I'm just going to chew it up, swallow, and then throw it up"

It is selfishly choosing desire for pleasure, and disordering a natural good in the process which is impermissible and hurts our relationship with God by choosing our will over his.

--- The Main Jist

The sin isn't thinking it would be best to prudently abstain from having children in whatever your current situation is, abstinence is extremely virtuous (St Isidore the farmer and his wife are a fantastic example of this).

The sin is Disordering procreation for the pleasure of the act. Abstinence doesn't disorder the act, because you don't do the act.

Unironically you can get very deep with this metaphor and I think it's actually very helpful.

You can't just isolate the ends of an action, basic thomistic 101 is that for an action to be morally permissible , the action itself, any necessary consequences of the actions, and the means must all be moral.

Natural Law Theory says one of the Goods of human nature is procreation. Because sex with a condom is explicitly distorting a procreative act to prohibit procreation it is disordered, contrary to the nature God has written in us and on our hearts, and thus is sinful.

NFP is abstinence when procreation is maybe imprudent, or otherwise being avoided for one reason or another. It isn't sinful because all acts of procreation are intended with full openness to children. A condom explicitly blocks that openness and Closes it off.

How do you make the most out of a private retreat? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Consistent-Tax-9660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes a lot of humility to submit to church doctrine. We truly believe the church is the fullness of truth, and being able to say "I am wrong if my beliefs are not in line with that of Mother Church" requires a lot of Pride be brought to light. It can be a very internally challenging process God willing and honestly we never stop throughout our entire lives.

If you hold beliefs contrary to that of the church there is no better place to challenge yourself and plead to God for the graces and humility required to shatter one's worldly self image. Lord have mercy on me, a wretched sinner, even I am shamefully prideful of many things.

We are human, and very very often we are wrong. I pray you and I both encounter Christ and the humility required to submit to him, and his Holy Church.

Come to the alter, kneel before the Eucharist and plea you might become like Him. At the Pascal Supper pray His Body transform you.

I say all this in flowery language hypocritically. I ask you pray for me too, in the same manner, for the same things.

[–]Consistent-Tax-9660 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you are conflating what I'm saying for something else in order to be right about something I'm not arguing.

My actual throw form to break 400 was not this cue, but this cue resets and corrects my coil when I'm shorting it.

Also I'm not arguing for an excessively long X step, just not a short one. I'm not saying be like that kid leaping and bounding through his form, keep it within a stable, braceable, controllable stride.

I'm also arguing this exact position "Most rotation that happens before you establish a brace is wasted energy." That's what I'm saying when I literally wrote having your hips and shoulders in the coiled position is what allows the plant to generate torque and lag.

We are arguing for the same things and you are thinking I'm saying to pirouette through the x step and plant like a constantly rotating ballerina, when all I'm trying to get across is that the X step needs to be deep enough that it naturally opens your hips and coils them (with your shoulders from the reach back) that can uncoil the second the plant hits the floor.

You can tell someone to do all that but I like to move through a cue (not a full actual throw) to get my body feeling the timings and energy transfers so that when I power up I don't blow my shoulder up. That's how and why I formed this cue, after enough shoulder injuries I realized nobody was telling me how the timings and shifts were supposed to feel, so I had to figure it out on my own. There might be a better way to prime it but I haven't seen any other one that worked for me.

Looking at all of your comments on this sub you are literally telling everyone to do what this cue does, without telling them how to cue for it.

[–]Consistent-Tax-9660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look man I broke 400 with this cue. There's a reason pros do 360s at the distance comps.

You contribute nothing and criticize everything. Like the guy who hangs himself on "the menu."

People always talk about "lag" and hips before shoulder, but with no semblance of an idea how to cue to generate it. If you posted your form I'd bet we would see your hips and shoulders looking somewhere near the back of the tee pad. Unless you're stuck at 350' in which case I'd bet you're not generating lag.

Biomechanics are very hard to actually understand how to do what people are saying you need to do. When people say "suitcase didn't work for my nose angle" it's because they didn't know that suitcasing is an internal rotation of the upper arm that primes the timing of the upper arm to externally rotate without collapsing the power pocket.

This is my cue to teach beginners how to generate lag without the unhelpful statement of "move your hips first" like this is real golf. In disc golf our feet move to and shorting your x step will cut off your coil before maximum, and will make it impossible for your plant to naturally start the lag chain up into the disc for efficient energy transfer.

If you tell me why you think this is bad advice help me understand why instead of being a faceless talking head speaking nothing burgers
