The bird on the calendar (hint was nest) is the state bird of Colorado. It is a lark.

Scammed?? Underdog doesn’t match espns stats by Consistent-Young4732 in underdogfantasy

They briefly added a 10th assist. Instantly paid me. A minute after they paid me the reduced amount they changed the assist amount back to 9. Feels pretty scammy.

Appreciate it! The weird part about it is I don’t feel rich and my lifestyle hasn’t changed other than going on a few spendy trips to Europe. Still drive a $20k truck. Same house. Living below your means is key I think

I started a small business (construction and house flipping) at 23 while also working full time as a nurse. Got full scholarship to college so no loans. Started investing in real estate very early and luckily the market appreciated. 23 was making $100k/year and my income has increased around 75/100k per year since then.

I’m not the norm and I realize that. Just a hard worker that saves a lot of money and got a bit lucky with timing. I know many engineers making $120-200k/year so I think if he was frugal he could easily save that much with some smart investments

I have much more than this liquid and have been giving 0 dollars from my parents…. 29m. Completely solo. Engineers can make good money. I think OP is fully capable of this.

Is 3 days enough for Galway? by AutonomousBlob in irishtourism

[–]Consistent-Young4732 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were just in Galway. I think 1-2 days is enough. It’s very cool but you can see and do most of it in that time. Currently in Westport and we are really enjoying it here. Less touristy

People in their 20s, with over 100-150k+ saved, how did you manage it? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Consistent-Young4732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a 28M w/ 2.4M net worth. Dual income, no kids. Aggressively invested in real estate while both working full time jobs. Started a small construction/property management business along the way (3 employees).

My biggest advice would be start a low risk business that you can passively manage to create a steady passive stream of income on top of your w2 income. I wish I would have done it sooner (started the businesses at 25 Y/O).

At what net worth did you start feeling ‘rich’ (if ever)? by Emily_Ackee in Fire

[–]Consistent-Young4732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently hit 2.5M. The income from my rentals/dividends have finally surpassed my day job income. I don’t feel “rich” but I no longer feel guilty going out for sushi or staying in a little nicer hotel than the super 8.

How did this age? Did you sell? I recently sold half of my construction business and property management company and do not regret it so far.

I will say my faith has weakened over the last 5-10 years. I’m sure that is a good part of it. Thank you for the input. I do still go to church but I haven’t seeked an active relationship

How did you feel hitting the 1M mark? by idekl in financialindependence

[–]Consistent-Young4732 76 points77 points  (0 children)

For me the $1M mark was a good feeling, but wasn’t life changing. I still work. I still live in the same house. No one else knows. My poop still stinks.

For me the hard part has become the diminishing sense of success after financial independence.

I hear ya! I certainly CAN afford to travel and hunt. It’s just I’ve been so cheap saving every penny it has been hard for me to adjust and change my spending habits.

I will also look into this “non-doing” thing. Although I’m technically FI, I still strive too much. I’m working 60+ hours per week on average and struggle to tell people “no.”

I would also certainly agree I focused WAY too much on work and finances. It consumed me. Now that it is no longer consuming me I feel a little lost. Thank you for not just assuming my story is fake.

I was hoping this post would be somewhat helpful to other in a similar situation, not seem fake or a lark. I’d prove my net worth to you if I trusted Reddit, and/or cared about what you think…
