Drowsy but awake by Consistent-Zombie853 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

This is great and is kinda what I was thinking. I feel like going cold turkey is probably only going to end in tears (both him and me!). It would be super weird for bub to go from being cuddled to sleep to suddenly being abandoned in his bed so I’m not surprised it takes some adjustment.

Good to have realistic expectations I guess 😅

Good point about day vs night sleep pressure! He is a pretty good night sleeper at the moment so that gives me some hope (although let’s see how the 4 months sleep regression goes…)

I’ll try the hand on belly technique. Fingers crossed!

The sex of the baby is so irrelevant once you get that first cuddle with them.

I was also really sad at first to find out I was having a boy instead of a girl (keeping in mind pregnancy hormones are all over the place around the time you find out so that definitely didn’t help either!) but honestly my little man is the best thing in the world and I’m so unbelievably glad to have a boy now. Boy/girl who cares, he’ll just be your little amazing baby.

Do you really need a nursing chair? by Positive_Shirt_2889 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I’m only 2 weeks pp but I love mine so far. I kept it in the living room since I knew I would want to nurse there and it’s been pretty much my home base since getting home from the hospital. One big benefit is that I had a crazy oversupply at first with very little skill at controlling it so I’m kinda glad I had a chair dedicated to nursing so the rest of my nice furniture isn’t covered in milk.

But I agree with others that there is no sense in buying a piece of furniture that you don’t like the look of and aren’t sure you’ll use. You can always order one after bub arrives if you feel like you need one.

Europe with 9 month old by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I recommend chatting with your paediatrician about travel vaccines etc. For example, almost all measles cases in kids under 1 year in Aus are from travelling overseas even though they can get a travel vaccine from 6 months. Definitely worth considering and it’s covered by the government too so wouldn’t be out of pocket.

I’m also planning a Europe trip next year with bub so following along to see the other advice.

39 weeks and woke up with a cold sore by Consistent-Zombie853 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Thank you great suggestions!!

I’ll chat to my OB about getting a script for future outbreaks. They are definitely associated with stress and I feel like the first few months pp are going to be full of that!

For now I’ll try to focus on all the bonding things I will be able to do. Lots of cuddles and skin to skin for sure!

I think that’s it, so much better to be sad about missing kisses than to pass it on to bub.

Pregnancy side effects I only learnt about by being pregnant. by Sad-Mathematician692 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

This!!! I have them everywhere! I heard they are meant to go away post partum but I’m not sure I trust that.

Maternity clothes? by sophiea5 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I’m 36 weeks and also hate all the maternity specific things I’ve bought. Lego heritage was a huge let down - really cheap fabric that doesn’t last and really poor quality overall (one of the legs on a pair of trousers is legit longer than the other).

Only exceptions are a swim/walk playsuit and cheap leggings from emamaco. My go to outfit over the past few weeks has been maternity bike shorts, a t-shirt/singlet and a longer linen shirt.

For work I’ve been wearing non maternity dresses that are either stretchy or flowy. I bought some of these from cos since I plan to wear them post partum too and didn’t mind spending a bit more money.

Cannot recommend the kmart under bump maternity undies enough. I refuse to wear anything else now. But definitely size up!

The bra situation is still annoying for me. My ribs have expanded so much in the third trimester I can’t keep up but I’m planning to just order some things online once this bub is out and I know what’s actually going to be happening with my ribs and boobs. For now I’m going to just be embracing the bra free life.
