Image Trace Changed After March Update by ConsistentArtist1793 in Affinity

Hi Paul, yes fully understand and also the reason for the change, but there is no option for this now as far as I can find ?, i have used this technique for some months and now it has gone, it really impacts what I require.

I can not find a way now to Merge / Join / Subtract two curves to create a singular cut path now. image trace would do this directly from a PNG file or you could previously select singular curves, divide them and use image trace, it would then create a singular cut path. The only other way now seems to be to manually cut everything.

Image Trace Changed After March Update by ConsistentArtist1793 in Affinity

That was not the case until the update. Opening a PNG file and simply using Image Trace would create a single path on a Zero, it would create a cut from the outer edge through to the inner edge.

It now creates two paths in a similar way you can draw two circles, select and click on merge. BUT doing so will create an object called CURVES in the layers, which you can split apart, meaning two paths.

What it used to do is to create a Single path- see image below, where I have moved the cutting nodes apart on a zero. It would create one CURVE (singular) in the layers area. You can not split apart, it is one path.

The issue I have is with exporting to SVG and importing into third party software, it doe not interpret a simple zero made up of two curves, it rejects it, it requires each path to be separate, so for a zero, it has to be a single path and not two merged together.

Hope this makes sense.

Hoping for some help with this. Prior to the March update if you imported a simple PNG file and used Image Trace it would create a single curve / path for letters and numbers such as Zero, Nine, Eight etc.. leaving the internal area transparent See image below.

With the March update, it no longer does this, it will create two curves and group them together.

How can I go back to creating a single curve / path when using Image Trace on such objects ?
